Sent the Money for my Mooney today,:) Did a prebuy with my mechanic last week.  I go pick her up next week to bring her home! She’s in NC I’m in MI.

Very excited! I have to get my complex and insurance check out but I have a local cfi that can help me pick it up and do that endorsement and such.

She’s going to change my flying experience going from a Cessna 140 of 2 seats and 90kts to this bird with reclining rear seats and real speed!  I’m gunna miss my 140, lots of special times with her but she just didn’t fit my missions anymore… if ya know anyone looking for an awesome low n slow tailwheel- I’ll have one available soon…

Once I feel proficient in the Mooneys basic operations I’ll start my IR.  Never felt the need with having the ol 140.

Thanks to all who have helped educate me on these birds and I’m sure my questions are really just begining!

Congratulations,  looks like a nice Mooney!

Thanks!

she sure looked like it to us, the maintenance and logs looked impeccable.  Last annual was at Don Maxwells too…

I have had my J for over six months now.  Just flew it today and stood in the hangar door just staring at her after I put it away.   It’s a great feeling and a great airplane.  Congratulations and best of luck!

(get an account at Aircraft Spruce…you’re going to need it!)

No doubt on spruce ! :)  The good news is  I already have an account… my current bird may be far simpler but another 20years older… so I’ve sent a few AMUs to ol Spruce already.  I’m sure many more to go…

I have little doubt I’ll do the same with admiring her once she’s here.  I keep finding reasons to “check” on something in the photos I have of her :)

First time I saw I Mooney and it's funky tail I was like, "what is that? I want one." Ever since then I worked towards getting one and I can't imagine trading it for anything else. They just fly so dang smooth and precise. They crosswind land amazing, at least to me anyway. Any the design is very straight forward and easy to understand if you work on them yourself with API supervision. All in all they are very solid and nice.

Congrats!!! I'm about to fly to my A&P/IA tomorrow for my 2nd annual in my J. She has been rock solid and can't wait for many more years of enjoyment. Mooney's are the best! Im not biased or anything :)

Yea I do all I can on my 140 that either I can under owner maintenance or under supervision… I beleive it’s a good idea for a pilot to know his machine…

I worked with my local A&p on the prebuy, we drive down together and took a full day going through her… I thought the same thing for a more complex machine it didn’t seem stupidly complicated…
