Just finished my first PPP at Lakeland,FL. I recently acquired my M20J, and felt I could use additional training especially with emergency training such as engine failures. This ground and flying training program far exceeded my expectations. The instructors are outstanding and the social activities with other Mooney pilots provide an unbeatable learning experience. I recommend this program to all Mooney pilots, but especially to first time Mooney owners.  I have been thru many training programs and this is one of the best. There are 4 more of these weekend programs left this year and they have 5 each year. So get on it and schedule yourself for one!

That's what I also thought after my first one just a few weeks after buying my C. I try to go back every few years to brush up on procedures and break bad habits that creep in over time.

My experience is the same. I went the first time as a relatively new owner but am looking forward to going back this year with more experience.

I'm going in April. Looking forward to the training. I've got 250 Mooney time and excited to learn more about my C.

I just sent my registration form in for Henderson. See you there

I went to Lakeland as well this year. Flight training was great! Glad these guys are trying to revitalize the MAPA organization. We need to support them.

What is the program called? I am looking for some advanced training.

Sam

Mooney Pilot Proficiency Program is the name. I have been to five over time, all really good, Niagara, Peoria, Olathe, Boulder and Santa Fe. All the instructors I have flown with have their own Mooneys. Most or all of the instructors have flown multiple Mooney models. They are great! I am planning on going again this year. Flew with Wayne Fisher in Boulder and got mountain training, landed and took off a Leadville, a non-event in a turbo.

If you want some truly advanced training and are not averse to the cost, I highly recommend Advance Performance Solutions. https://apstraining.com/about/ Upset recovery in a 300XL. You will do all the stalls, cross controlled stalls, and spins you can handle, including in IMC. Ever wonder what an AI does when you spin in IMC, you will see it. They teach a super method of getting out of a spin. You will also do many aerobatic maneuvers, hammerhead, Split-S, Cuban, even a Lomcevak if you are up to it. The other great one is the other APS, Advanced Pilot Seminars in Ada. I would wait until they do another live seminar, its worth the trip. You will learn more about engine management than you thought existed.
