One of my Monroy tanks on my M20M appears to be leaking where the tanks come together. Does anyone have a detailed drawing, schematic, or photo of how the Mooney and Monroy tanks are connected. Speed brake version if it matters.

All M20Ms have speed brakes.

Definitely not a detailed drawing but it gives you an idea: Mooney-Fuel-Increase-Upgrade-2.jpg?v-cac

Maxwell has the STC now but are still waiting for the FAA to transfer.  They would be a good source on drawings and other details.

It went up to $5k.  I’m on the list, still waiting.  Not Maxwell either.

Make sure you have an acceptable resource….

By searching around here about the one you select… :)

Something doesn’t sound right…

Jose sold to Kellen.  I have been on Jose’s list for about a year and the price was $3k.  Jose tells me the STC was sold to Kellen Kester.

Last conversation with Kellen is the STC is now $5k and is waiting for FAA to process the paperwork.

Why is Maxwell advertising it on their site?

"Don Maxwell Aviation along with a partner has purchased the STC from Jose and is currently putting kits together to be available by the end of the year.  Our current run of kits will be a total of 30 and if you’re interested in purchasing a kit you can contact myself at Don Maxwell Aviation or Kellen Kester at (812) 240-6223."

They do need to get their stories straight on the price. :)

So if Kester is saying $5,000 and Maxwell is saying 60 hours that makes this mod $11,000+ plus tax in high sales tax Texas (BTW what is Maxwell’s shop rate now? More than $100?) . And that is only if there are no leaks or integrity issues with the current main tanks. Maybe add another $5,000 for repairs when they get into the current tanks - or $10,000 for reseal.

If you are flying long distances with three big or four smaller adults (plus bags/carry ones), then this mod does nothing since you can’t fill the main tanks anyway. Flying alone, one pax or with kids it gives you more flexibility on when or where you stop for fuel but they will probably make you stop sooner than you want regardless.
