Mark Van Der Hart Posted October 12, 2022 Author Report Posted October 12, 2022 Yes... Maybe in another thread I saw some mention the HE-1677 as an aluminum crush washer. I'm having a hard time understanding what the purpose of that would be, as it wouldn't provide a certain seal if it doubled as a seat for the ball. Mine worked very well before. I never actually timed the flap retraction, but I didn't ever sense that it was too long or too short (except when I wanted to instantly dump them on a short runway landing). I sure appreciate all your insight and input. I'll report back as I get them filled, bled, and tested. Mark Quote

Mark When discussed we came to the same conclusion as to the purpose or lack thereof regarding aluminum crush washer. It was omitted from every pump I’ve ever seen. Combine that with the fact that it’s omitted from some of Mooney‘s drawings (which have other problems I won’t go into here) and it seems quite possible that it was deliberately omitted during assembly but the change was not reflected in the IPC. Here is a video I shot many years ago to give people a reference for how the system should function when properly bled and adjusted. 2 Quote

Did you know it was involved in a crash in Redding,CA? We sold the Mooney after the crash and bought a Cessna 206. I have home movies of that Mooney. I was just watching them so decided to look up the N number to see if someone currently owned it. 1 Quote

Hi Kathy, It does not look like Mark has been here for about a year. N6876U has had two incidents. In 1964, it crashed in Texas due to fuel exhaustion. In 1985, it had a power loss on take off (likely carb ice) and ran off the end of a runway. I am sure that Mark is aware of both incidents. Quote
