Steve Dawson Posted August 13, 2022 Report Posted August 13, 2022 I have a new starter with 35 hours on it and the starter spins however the Bendix drive doesn't engage. Other than buying a Sky Tec, does anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks Steve Quote

Other than buying a Sky Tec, does anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks Steve I agree with using a good cleaner that is friendly to electronics. A few years ago, 2017 to be exact, I was having problems with mine disengaging. I used Deep Creep from SeaFoam. The stuff is amazing. Starter has been working fine without the Bendix sticking. carusoam Posted August 13, 2022 Report Posted August 13, 2022 It’s An annual event… Clean and lubricate… Continues to work for decades, or just before the next annual…. Where you clean and lubricate again… My 65C lived outdoors… this part probably saw a lot of rain water clean the lubricant off…. Best regards, -a- Quote
Steve Dawson Posted August 17, 2022 Author Report Posted August 17, 2022 Just an update for those with any issues with model Hartzell ERB 8011, The bendix drive was fully engaging into the ring gear and the grinding noise was from the area between the motor and the gearbox. Thankfully the starter is going to be replaced under warranty. 3 Quote
