davidsguerra Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 i want to put overlapping nose gear doors and 252 inner gear doors on my 1983 M20k. does anyone know where i can get the parts? also i need to replace my O2 bottle. $1850 is the price i was quoted. Does that sound right? you can get a new scuba tank for far less than that and they are basically the same. thx Quote
KSMooniac Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Those are factory parts. Recent news from the factory indicated that they brought back some personnel to make such parts, but I'm not sure how that is going. Parker just converted his 252 to an Encore and needed some new main doors, and it seemed like pulling teeth. He has his OEM 252 doors for sale here: http://www.mooneyspace.com/index.cfm?mainaction=posts&forumid=8&threadid=3970 and that is probably the best price and fastest delivery you'll find right now. You might call some of the bigger Mooney service centers like Maxwell, LASAR, Dugosh, Top Gun, etc. and see if any of them have nose gear doors in stock. I bought a set 2.5 years ago from LASAR, but they had to get made by Mooney first. I have no idea if anyone keeps them in inventory. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Can't help you on the nose gear doors, but can help you on the inboard and lower gear doors. Verify - are you talking inboard (next to fusalage) or inner/lower that are next to the brake caliper? You shouldn't have inboard gear doors on a 1983 model if my understanding is correct. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 And also your O2 bottle price sounds right. Quote
davidsguerra Posted January 23, 2012 Author Report Posted January 23, 2012 Parker-- email sent LASAR was out. will check with the rest. Quote
kerry Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 I'd shop around on O2 bottles. I don't know what size and type you have but I just looked at skyox.com and they were all quite a bit less than $1850. Quote

FBCK Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 I've been shopping for an O2 tank on my 1981 231, 77cb'/ft (thin wall) and the tank alone was $1350 with no regulator, with would bring it to your price (overhauled Reg). Ive haven't ordered it yet but will in the next couple of days, if any body has a less expensive solution I would be happy to hear it. Quote
DonMuncy Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 It appears to me that a scuba tank, with the same pressure ratings as the tank in your plane would work just as well. I haven't looked at my parts book; does Mooney assign its own part number to the tank? Perhaps you need to shop A&Ps to see if one will install and sign off on another tank. Quote
