201er Posted June 3, 2022 Author Report Posted June 3, 2022 It was a long and tiring flight. With all the weather, there was never any certainty of completing it. I just took it one rough patch at a time. Luckily the storms were spread out and I could work my way between them visually. Landed with about 16 gallons remaining. Will know for sure when they top me off. I go to bigger airports when I travel cause they have car rentals, stay open late, big runway and instrument approaches after a long flight. Not the time to play around or test skills. Thanks Ambassador of Mooneyspace for posting the updates. 12
David M20J Posted June 3, 2022 Report Posted June 3, 2022 with those 100 gal tanks whats the useful load topped off? 1 pilot no bags?
ArtVandelay Posted June 3, 2022 Report Posted June 3, 2022 with those 100 gal tanks whats the useful load topped off? 1 pilot no bags?Should be about 400 lbs (typical 1000lbs UL - 6x100). 1

We only fly in the morning and we lose 2 hours going there, so time goes faster. I plan on flying to Memphis/Tunica, on Monday stay a few days then on to Longview on Thursday. Hopefully a nice event awaits

Great fuel prices and excellent service from the FBO just next to the tower. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I would second this, although I'm biased... My hangar is right behind that FBO. It used to be known as Metro Aviation, but they have pulled out and it's now known as Olive Branch Aviation. Gas is relatively high right now, but not nearly what you would pay at Signature at KMEM. 1
Danb Posted June 3, 2022 Report Posted June 3, 2022 IFLYIFR/WP I’m actually staying in tunica at the horseshoe I go there a couple times a year. Also slip over to W Memphis they have a nice nonsmoking casino Fran likes. When going to Longview I usually hit Tunica on the way. A nice break. I like the area plus south Biloxi 1

I bet it is the same for in the air. 1 1

201er Posted June 5, 2022 Author Report Posted June 5, 2022 Got to overtake a Mooney M20C N6884N over Tenessee at about my halfway point. It took like half an hour though with about 130 vs 150 knot ground speeds. 2

0TreeLemur Posted June 6, 2022 Report Posted June 6, 2022 I couldn't imagine sitting in a Mooney for 9+ hours straight. Flew about 4-1/2 hours today, with a stop in the middle just to stretch the legs, air out, top-off and use the facilities. DVT is real. Sitting in an airplane without the opportunity to increase circulation for that duration is just inviting problems, in my opinion. 3
carusoam Posted June 6, 2022 Report Posted June 6, 2022 +1 for the DVT is real mention… Something to be familiar with as there are things that can be done to help minimize the challenge… Where getting up and walking around might not be available…. -a-
