Parker_Woodruff Posted May 13, 2022 Report Posted May 13, 2022 At the moment, I'm planning to fly to IND on American and back on Southwest, but I've thought about splitting gas with someone to go up there by GA. Does anyone have any experience with how crowded the parking is at airports near IND for a Saturday arrival? Is it as bad as Super Bowls supposedly are? Some airports for consideration: GPC, 2R2, HFY. Quote
McMooney Posted May 13, 2022 Report Posted May 13, 2022 (edited) was just in indy tuesday. call one of the FBOs and make a reservation. also, from my understanding, the airport/airport authority is charging something like 2 to 300$ for parking during that period.(on top of signature/millionaire charges) I believe it ends the day after the race Edited May 13, 2022 by McMooney Quote

mike_elliott Posted May 13, 2022 Report Posted May 13, 2022 Its been a few years since I have been back, but EYE is the GA of choice for the race, 2r2 is a bit out of the way and HFY should have room if EYE doesnt. Incidentally, a Mooney Acclaim owner came in 5th today in the Pro2000 race, and a bravo owner bought up the rear of those still running in that race. Tomorrow at 9:10A they go again. #LetsgoReece I might be there for Indy, Parker..more later. Make time to go to the museum and look up my brother bob.. He is a walking encyclopedia of that joint 2 Quote
Brandt Posted May 13, 2022 Report Posted May 13, 2022 Biz jet traffic will likely go to TYQ. EYE close but doesn’t have a lot of parking. Good restaurant right next door. HFY would be closest best second choice. Can’t imagine much of a problem. All friendly and accessible. And you could always hop over to one of the others if unexpectedly full. 2 Quote

I'd expect KEYE to be jammed full. I'm most likely flying into Indy the day after, think i'll try KUMP this go around. my understanding that fee may not be limited to IND. Nick Pilotte Posted May 18, 2022 Report Posted May 18, 2022 Lots of options for airports. If nothing else, KLAF is about 60 minutes north on I-65. Call around and see what’s available. Indy has a pretty nice outer loop to help with traffic and I find it not bad (I live in a Chicago burb). Last time I was at IMS was the week before Tony George left. I called in a favor and a small group of us got a tour of the basement and a lap around the track in our own cars. It was a blast. Try and get a reservation at St Elmo’s downtown by the circle for a great steak. They may be booked solid for that weekend. 1 Quote
