My AP has wanderlust

I have a KfC150 in my J. Recently, in heading mode, immediately after engaging it wanders left and right, maybe 20 degrees for about 3 minutes then locks in perfectly. Stays good the rest of the flight. Any thoughts?

Expect Jake to remind you about the heading source and what can be done to get it cleaned up, straightened out, or swapped with a similar unit for testing…

What heading source are you using, how many hours does it have on it?

There are lots of take out units available lately….

Curious to know what type of compass system you have.  Is it the KCS-55A (KI-525A) or do you have glass?  How drastic is the oscillation?  How long does it take to make one cycle? Do you happen to have a video of the oscillation?  More information would be needed to try and isolate the issue.
