While testing my TKS in flight today I noticed I did not see the typical mist on the windscreen coming off the prop. Everything else worked as expected. A bit of troubleshooting at the destination shows the spray nozzle clogged. No fluid comes out of the nozzle, plenty of fluid comes out of the hose connected to the nozzle. Inspecting the nozzle with magnification shows it blocked. I thought I'd check here for a proper procedure before proceeding.

thanks, Larry

Is it blocked or did it get gently scraped closed by the prop hub?

Mine got scraped closed and I gently filed it back open (and routed it better). Post a photo and it'll be easier to know which.

Get a tip drill set and run the proper size through the metered end of the nozzle.  Make/Model of aircraft and FIKI or no-hazard system and I can tell you what size the metering end is...

Thanks for the reply. 1997 Mooney Encore FIKI.

It was not scraped closed by the prop hub, there is plenty of clearance and no evidence of scraping. It's hard to take a sharp close-up picture of the business end. Under magnification it almost looks like solder.

Thanks, Larry

@CAV Ice How about for a M20M no-hazard installation? I think I have the same issue.

Cheers,

Really have to second that.  For @CAV Ice, every time I’ve needed to call KS for tech support or clarification on how to do something TKS-related, you folks always deliver with a tremendous amount of knowledge and a great attitude.  Thanks very much for continuing to support all of us on this forum with issues like these.  Speaking at least for myself, it is very much appreciated.
