7) Don’t race a Mooney with your kid’s car…

I repainted the numbers and taxiway stripe at my first airport, after landing in the grass one night because I couldn't tell where the runway was (runway 3001 x 75, but lights were 200' wide). When I finished the (much larger than I had anticipated) "26" to go paint the "8", I wanted to see how fast my little Mooney accelerates.

So loaded with me, a 5 gal bucket of paint and a long-handled roller, I gave it all that my Accord had down the runway, spinning the tires just a little bit. I was intimately familiar with where my C hit 70 mph to rotate, and when I passed that point in the Accord I was still in 3rd gear with speed in the low 60s . . . That was approaching 1000', and yes, your Standing O is much, much quicker.  ;)

Was my mistake using my own car instead of borrowing one?

Thank you Gents!

1) The day keeps getting better and better…

2) 201er called and asked if I was going to be hungry….

3) That was a pretty easy question to answer…

4) Mooneys are incredibly fast…

5) I had to bolt out of the house to drive to the other side of town…

6) I got to the airport about 10 minutes before Mikey did…

7) Don’t race a Mooney with your kid’s car…

Sooooo….

When we have a NJ Mooney Fly-in…

Can I recommend this place…

It’s perfect for Meatatarians…. (People that only eat meat… it takes a commitment…)

Love the Grub Hut!!!  47N’s own Herb Kushner took me there after a ride in his RV for pulled pork sandwiches and man do I still remember how good that sandwich was to this day.
