mhrivnak Posted August 8, 2021 Report Posted August 8, 2021 If you're lucky, you might find the K factor in a log entry from when the transducer was installed, which could be more convenient than removing fire sleeve and whatever else to get a look at it. Quote

A64Pilot Posted August 14, 2021 Report Posted August 14, 2021 Due to the possible differences in plumbing etc., you can’t use a set number, yes I know Shadin did somehow. I did the Certification test flights of a whole bunch of aircraft equipped with MVP-50T’s and even though the installations were identical, the K factor was different every time. ‘What I did was set the K factor to a fuel flow that was close to correct at TO power, then let the owner fine tune it if they so desired. Setting it so TO power fuel flow as correct got it pretty close. Quote

From factory it has a K factor of 76000. I was trying to see if anybody where able to play around with the K factor for this particular setup to get a true Fuel Flow reading on a M20J. SkipI actually did a G3X touch, and the shop changed the original transducer to Electronic International. According to them, you don’t need that much of adjustment on the K factor but it’s had to believe. I think mine is off by 5-7% I assume you’ve installed GFC 500 and GTN navigator. What I found with the Floscan is that it read about 5% high when set to the K-factor stamped on the transducer. Skip Quote
carusoam Posted August 19, 2021 Report Posted August 19, 2021 K-factor is often affected by the plumbing into and out of the sensor… Expect all flow sensors to have a good starting number… That can be tuned over a few tank refills…. Copy a good plumbing install for ease of getting the K-factor right… Random plumbing installs can have a K-factor that changes based on the flow rate being used… We have seen flow transducers mounted near exhaust pipes… and some with 90° elbows before or after the sensor…. Some give good numbers and others give numbers that look good… PP thoughts only, not a mechanic… Best regards, -a- Quote
