luv737s Posted May 11, 2021 Report Posted May 11, 2021 Finally got my plane back. Combined annual with upgrade and removal of years of accumulated wiring. Dropped 20 pounds, everything is rewired and functioning. Mike at VAAYU in New Braunfels worked miracles as we discovered that Avionics people like to snip and patch and leave old stuff behind because it is fast. Can't say enough for the work he did and although they are not an official MSC, they are pretty close, because they are meticulous. Really enjoying the data I am getting so I can fly my forever plane until they take my medical. 2 Quote
A64Pilot Posted May 11, 2021 Report Posted May 11, 2021 Lots of things you can get familiar with on the MVP-50, like setting the fuel flow / consumption, you enter the fuel used and it will compute the percent difference snd ask if you want to make the change, and it will change the K factor for you. ‘I’d recommend doing that at first fill up, but after that keep a running track of fuel you buy and don’t adjust it again until you get to about 100 gls or so, the larger the volume, the more accurate it will get, and it can get astonishingly accurate, then leave it alone and don’t adjust it again. ‘Then you know about the data sample rate, factory default is I believe .3 per sec and depending on how much memory is in the unit that will determine how long until it wraps. You may want to consider decreasing that interval some, or the newer units may have a lot of memory so default is fine, it will tell you how long it will record in hours. You download it on a USB thumb drive of course and it can be read and displayed on Microsoft office, I believe excel, no special software needed. Do you have the voice warnings enabled? If so then you may not have an embedded file that covers everything but you can upload a custom file. You can also install external warning lights, I called them Master warning and Master caution, the red one lit whenever any reading was in the red, and yellow anytime you were in the yellow, red meant do something now, of course and yellow meant pay attention. Where did you mount the EDC? Quote
luv737s Posted May 12, 2021 Author Report Posted May 12, 2021 Thanks, we already have the warning lights right in front of the pilot. Starting to do fuel calculations now to see if the K factor needs adjusting. So far, just exploring all the capabilities of the unit. Thanks for the suggestions. Quote
carusoam Posted May 12, 2021 Report Posted May 12, 2021 The EI MVP is a really nice system... with great support. Come up with a good or challenging question... so we can ask @oregon87! Were gonna need a pic with all the color screens alive.... Best regards, -a- Quote
A64Pilot Posted May 12, 2021 Report Posted May 12, 2021 (edited) There is a fuel page, on that page it will say something like you have burned xx amount of fuel, there will be a line to enter actual fuel used, you’ll enter it and it will then tell you that is x percent different, would you like to adjust the K factor, and you highlight and enter yes. ‘You don’t need to calculate anything, it will do it for you, if your nervous before you allow it to change the K factor write down the original K factor as you can enter it directly too and return to where you were. ‘The unit is very user friendly, and they guys at EI are very willing to help. You don’t have all the warning lights, like low fuel or oil pressure, maybe not for low or high voltage, vacuum etc. The LED’s for Warning and Caution are very easy to add if you choose to. You can see them here where I put an MVP 50 in my Maule years ago, just above the MVP itself, They are EI parts Edited May 12, 2021 by A64Pilot Quote

He has a this set for sale on Ebay right now. If you call him directly (so he does not have to pay Ebay fees) he might take yours in on trade and allow you to swap them and save down time. I have used Hector in the past. They did my seats. Quote
