It is a great question... but I had to read it several times to figure out what the issues really are... Recap... if you write your question clearly... you won’t have to shoot the answerer... Best regards, -a- Fair enough. I could see how someone could interpret this as asking how to fly it. In truth I’ve been flying the dp’s out of Monterey for 20 years at one point with a single vor and adf. Im curious what people think the rationale is from Garmin or if people have found their approach to have a benefit here or if maybe it’s a bug and what others have done (like the example above). I also teach in the g1000 system so I’ll try it on that too. Edited April 20, 2021 by RobertGary1 1 Quote
carusoam Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 It’s worse than a bug... A bug would imply an error, that the programmer would be glad to fix... Looks like the Avidyne folks have come up with a better solution... to this not-so-unique challenge... There are a few things that Avidyne does that make it a better box than what the other guys have... Now that we have identified the challenge here... Imagine how many other pilots have stumbled into this while in IMC... There is always going to be a better way... Want to send a message over to the Big G guys? Best regards, -a- Quote

The vors are shown for reference but they aren’t listed on the chart as transitions. Dunno. I just accept they aren't perfect. WAG: SNS is not in the list because it's so close and crossing the radial takes you past it on the departure. Your solution - choose any and then delete it - is a solid one. I like it better than any of the other suggestions. 1 Quote

KL, I tried to write that artfully.... The Big G device and its program aren’t broken, or needing fixing... But, The MSer has come up with an interesting, and not very common challenge... regarding DPs... The other box manufacturer... has included an interesting method of showing a possible route without it being activated... the barber pole in place of the magenta line... Where I really made the mistake... I forgot to copy @KLudwick.... the way I usually do... Thanks for always being here... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

This would be my recommendation as well, and is actually how I've done it myself in the past, but I'll pass this along to the team and see if we can find many other departures like it with other resolutions. 1 2 Quote

If you don't mind. Also curious if there are plans for the GNX375 to set frequencies in the GNC 255a and set the OBS on the GI-275. Since they're all on the same Garmin buss it would make sense. In other Garmin system's I've flown I've seen where you activate an approach it will do this but not on the 375. Maybe its on the roadmap. -Robert 1 Quote
