Does anyone know what alloy Mooney used to make the trim control rods that are coupled with universal joints.  is it 2024T3, 6061T6, 5052-0.  ETC.  Thanks

It can be determined by a instrument that works off of electrical conductivity, and heat treat by Rockwell hardness tester.

‘I believe the factory drawing for that part is about the only way without actually testing the part, the drawings will of course specify material

Thanks. I figured it was a long shot.

Sending a piece to the lab...

Blackstone the oil lab may have the skill as well...

It used to be done using an X-ray telescope...

College material labs probably have a service fee to cover that...

We have a materials guy around here who has identified different Mooney metals...

We also have David, that determined an aluminum alloy before, prior to machining blocks of it...

Creative PP thoughts only, not a materials engineer...

Best regards,
