MBDiagMan Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 I checked with the Lycoming distributor unable to get new Tappets at this time. Hydraulic units are back ordered causing tappets to be unavailable. Does anyone know where the DLC coated IO 360 A1A Tappets can be purchased at this time? Quote
kortopates Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 Spruce is a distributor too. But I would google the part # and see if you might find someone with them in their inventory - if you need them now. But given engine rebuilds takes months, if its a few weeks wait or even a month, that's not uncommon right now. Quote
MBDiagMan Posted March 10, 2021 Author Report Posted March 10, 2021 Assuming I don’t run into other parts sourcing problems this overhaul won’t take months. I will see what I can find in the Spruce catalog. Thanks! Quote
MBDiagMan Posted March 10, 2021 Author Report Posted March 10, 2021 AirPower is the one that told me they are currently unavailable due to hydraulic units being unavailable. I will try ly con Quote
Igor_U Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 I was told by couple of shops that OH are taking so long (up to 15-16 weeks) due to lack of parts. So depending what you need, it might take longer then expected. Quote
MBDiagMan Posted March 11, 2021 Author Report Posted March 11, 2021 Thanks Igor. From my sourcing efforts I can believe that. I think my hold up is going to be inspection and machining of the crankshaft, but 5here may very well be other parts that come up delayed. Quote
Guest Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 Our local engine shop reports the same issue with parts supply. I wonder if Lycoming and Continental are choking out the competition. Clarence Quote
Captnmack Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 Blame it on COVID. Why go to work when you can stay home.? Quote
cctsurf Posted March 15, 2021 Report Posted March 15, 2021 It could also be that the government is giving people large sums of money and they are spending it on airplane parts... Quote
