GeeBee Posted June 15, 2020 Report Posted June 15, 2020 Two highly trained and experienced pilots. "Impact at high velocity" in a Cherokee Six https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2020/06/12/naval-aviation-schools-command-co-and-fellow-navy-pilot-killed-in-private-plane-crash/ Quote
irishpilot Posted June 17, 2020 Report Posted June 17, 2020 If "interesting" means "tragic." I agree. As a military aviator, I am far more concerned with GA flying than I am in a high performance ejection seat aircraft. Things happen faster in a jet, but we have more tools to keep us safe and the Martin Baker seat has an awesome track record. Every time I fly my Mooney, I think about where to put it if I have an engine failure. This is partly why I choose to fly high alt. Still, things like wx, single Piston, lack of excess power, systems that are less redundant, etc. make civilian GA flying inherently less safe. Some mil aviators don't fly GA. Others do. We all know the risk.Fly safe.Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk 1 Quote
0TreeLemur Posted June 21, 2020 Report Posted June 21, 2020 Prelim. NTSB report indicates engine failure and in-flight fire. Everyone's worst nightmare. RIP Quote
GeeBee Posted June 21, 2020 Author Report Posted June 21, 2020 The question is why impact the terrain at high speed? Unless they were already incapacitated. Quote

irishpilot Posted June 25, 2020 Report Posted June 25, 2020 NTSB should be able to do analysis using the wreckage. If anyone sees the initial report, please post it here.Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk Quote
MATTS875 Posted June 25, 2020 Report Posted June 25, 2020 Very sad. This happened where I live. Tragedy Quote
