even with your example, that's still 80 lbs under gross, so I guess throw in some luggage.  Getting 4 in a C would be a challenge especially the ladies in the back seat.  Sure to be a cold dinner conversation   LOL

No one riding free in my backseat has ever complained . . . .

No. My example works out to 1022lbs of fuel, baggage and people. That's 5lbs under the 1028UL you mentioned.

yes, It does have LR tanks, solid belly, extra doors on the wheels 201 panel 201 cowling, one piece windshield, three blade prop, stec 60 AP,  rear battery(looks original) lightweight starter.  I would really love that CG forward about 3" if this info does all check out after I have it weighed a 2ND time...arrg...  Id like to put that battery right on the firewall LOL... but like there is room.

In the download section under engine manuals you will find the Mooney Service and Maint. Manual #106.  Download that.  There are detailed instructions how to weigh a Mooney properly.  It begins with draining the fuel.  Then adding back unusable fuel.  Leveling, weighing, measuring the actual position of the wheels in relation to the airplane.  Then a bunch of math.  You might want to print the appropriate pages, there is no way to communicate that simply.

With the 3 blade prop, I would expect your c.g. to be forward.  Instead it is right at aft c.g. empty!  Any loading at all would result in being out of the allowable range.  Your airplane may be as heavy as the mechanic claims but I can't see any way for the c.g. to have been calculated correctly.

Manual #106 has a bunch of detailed instruction on care and service of your Mooney.
