Oldguy Posted April 19, 2019 Report Posted April 19, 2019 Seems as if the Vision Jet has an issue similar to the Boeing MCAS problem where the stall warning protection system (SWPS) or the ESP is engaging when not appropriate. Reports say there have been three incidents since November 2018. Article states an "uncommanded pitch down may be difficult to recover from...". The FAA issued the emergency AD yesterday (2019-08-51) and it supersedes a previously issued SB. https://www.flyingmag.com/faa-grounds-cirrus-vision-jets Quote
Rick Junkin Posted April 19, 2019 Report Posted April 19, 2019 I'm curious - the article says the ESP is Garmin-designed. Does anyone know if the SWPS is part of the ESP system or a separate external input to the ESP? Cheers, Rick Quote
jgarrison Posted April 19, 2019 Report Posted April 19, 2019 Do these aircraft not have an override of the pusher? Quote
kortopates Posted April 19, 2019 Report Posted April 19, 2019 I was going to attach the AD which answers all the questions - but from my phone with Tapatalk I can’t seem to figure out how.The failure is due to their AOA sensor that was improperly assembled by the manufacturer Aerosonic. A couple setscrews missing loctite become loose on a potentiometer resulting in a loss of AOA which has the system pushing down. Correct response is to dis-engage autopilot system. Didn’t read it that closely but there may have also been either a loss of airspeed indications or perhaps just a Vref speed indication. I’ll post the AD later when I can if someone else doesn’t by then.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

Bryan Posted April 29, 2019 Report Posted April 29, 2019 So this is pretty cool. A guy at my local airport bought and owned Cirrus Jet #1 back when they were released a couple years ago. Cirrus would fly potential clients down to view the jet and had it on retainer as a demo to sell future ones. The owner, a few hangers over from me, took delivery of his G2 jet Friday - again first delivery of a G2. With the AoA AD complied with, he flew her home Friday night. Today, my family and I were at the airport for a nice evening flight and saw his hanger opened. We pulled over and he let us crawl in and climb around his brand new SF50. This thing is pretty awesome on the inside and the paint is not too shabby either. thank you Joe! 3 Quote
carusoam Posted April 29, 2019 Report Posted April 29, 2019 What did the kids think about it? Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
TCC Posted April 29, 2019 Report Posted April 29, 2019 Awesome. I’ll be the first to say if C can get the cost manageable for an average person to go from piston single to RVSM-capable personal plane, then more power to them. Wish it were Mooney, but alas. The future is there, not here. 1 Quote

The kids loved the huge 30”? fold-down screen (TV) for the passengers, momma liked the ample room in every seat (7) and I liked the Perspective Touch Plus advanced flight deck and the RVSM capable plane. I wish it were a Mooney, too, or at least a TBM-ooney. Can’t wait to get my 252 back from TXi upgrade; until then I can stroll around the airport. 3 Quote
