Landing Light Replacement M20J

Hi All,

I want to replace the halogen bulb with LED. Is this the correct LED replacement for a 83 M20J?

 

Parmetheus Plus PAR36 LED

Part # 11-12976

If your landing light is in the engine cowl, it should be a PAR 46 size bulb.

wings are par36. cowling is par46

Good idea to check the aiming when you replace the bulb.

I've been told that the non-certified bulbs make noise but have seen no mention of this on Mooneyspace.  Any truth to this?

I might have two of them and no noise that I can hear.

I spoke with Whelen last week.  You may want to wait for the “re-release” of the Parmetheus Gen3.  Another 15-20% brighter than the first release of the Gen3.  Over 60% brighter than the Parmetheus Plus.  Expected release is approx. mid to late-Feb. 2019.

In the meantime, just get some from @LANCECASPER. They're cheap enough and bright enough to use until you decide you want something better.

Received my Par 46 from LANCECASPER recently and could not be happier. Great service and money saver and so much brighter than the old light.
