KSMooniac Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 That sure makes a lot of us just want to cry! Thankfully the pilot kept his wits and got it on the ground quickly enough and under control to save everyone. An airframe/engine fire in flight is about as scary as it gets IMO! Quote
fantom Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 That's a loss that hurts more than the Heat loss last night! As least all seven people escaped injury. Quote
flyboy0681 Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 Like I've always said, the things I'm most concerned about in flight are 1) in-flight fire, 2) mid-air, 3) structural failure and 4) loss of power. Luckily these are all rare occurrences. Now the Heat, that's a different story. Quote
triple8s Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 Hopefully Riley Aviation or someplace like them will end up with it and make use of what little is left. I have been through their place and it is amazing what they can do with old aircraft. I was in there several years ago and was in awe, it was there I realized that no matter how bad it is, if you really want to make it airworthy it can be done. http://www.airsceneuk.org.uk/hangar/museums/kissimee/kiss.htm Quote
