Airspeed indicator in kts for C model?

The airspeed indicator in my C is like all others, outer ring in mph, inner ring in kts.   I think in kts and would really prefer it the other way around.

Does anyone know of a place that either can produce/silkscreen such a thing?  Of course I'd like the Mooney logo on the dial.

I searched before writing this post, and I saw that @Marauder sold one for an F model back in May.   Something like that is what I want.  See photo here.

The problem stems from the fact that every other a/c I've ever flown has shown kts in the outer ring.   Because 80 mph < 80 kts, it causes a distraction at a busy times that I could just avoid if the first outer number I saw was kts, and I didn't have to focus under the pointer.

Any ideas?

I suppose that it's distracting if you always think in knots but our C POH is all in mph so I always think in those.

If your POH shows both MPH and knots (as mine did), you can do what I did with my airspeed indicator; flip the knots and MPH location on the ASI. Mid-continent did my conversion and overhauled the unit for around $350. If your POH only shows MPH, you can still do the flip, but not remove the MPH

 

I was like you, it was driving me nuts to go back and forth between the units.

I should add, that if your POH is in both units, then you can remove the MPH if you go with something that displays only in one unit, like my Aspen.

Welcome to Vintage (certified) planes! Please learn to think in mph, as shown on your Instruments and in your Owner's Manual.

That. Is your car reading in kilometers/hour? Your V speeds are all in mph. You should fly it that way. If you really need your cruise speed in knots your phone can figure it out for you. Such a change in the airspeed indicator is a pure waste of money.

My ASI has mph on the outside, and rarely-used knots on the inside. All V-speeds and Performance Tables are in mph. 

But my G430W shows groundspeed in knots.

ATC has never asked or assigned me a speed, I just learned to fly approaches at 105 mph instead of 90 knots. No biggie . . . . .

Since my POH is all in mph I rather stick with that. Initially it bothered me, but now when a C or P driver asks me what she cruses at I say 165.......

I’ve yet to see a GPS that can’t be reset for whatever units you want.  Heck, my motorcycle will do that. Km/hr, though not knots.

Never bothered to look, it doesn't bother me at all and from what I can tell, it also doesn't matter.

Just focus on the inner ring and you will get comfortable with it over time.   I think of all of my relevant speeds in terms of knots in order to be consistent with the rest of the aviation community; if ATC gives you a speed they will do so in knots. Just be consistent and not jump back and fourth.  BTW, the thing that I really miss on my M20C airspeed indicator is the TAS window (even if in MPH) since it is a quick way to monitor TAS. Unfortunately, mine doesn't have one so I have to use an app on my phone.
