I would agree, I have driven both at full speed on a racetrack and the MX5 is a much better handling car.  It is probably because the newer BMW's are so much heavier and loaded with "features".

If you like the handling of the MX5, try to get a ride in an Elan. The suspensions are almost identical, but the Lotus weighs close to half that of the Mazda. But I have to admit, when you factor in the other attributes (frequency of repairs, constantly leaking oil, Lucas electrics, etc.), I'm not too unhappy with the MX5 as a daily driver.

I would have an MX5 again. I loved that car. My first car, purchased with my own savings, two weeks before my 16th birthday, was an MG. I've always liked the small ragtop sports cars. I still hope to have a TR6 one day. But I must say, I'm enjoying the BMW. It's a sleeper in that I've de-badged it and have it tuned up quite a bit over stock with suspension, brakes, and a bit of engine work as well. Fun cars.

My first sports car was an MG-TD.

This is my 2016 registered Absolute Pace 427SC AC Cobra (Melbourne, Australia). I built and painted her. Powered by a supercharged V8 LSA putting down 520hp to the rear wheels. She only weighs 2300lb! No ppwer steering, traction control or ABS. Driving her is ummm, interesting to say the least!

don’t know how I missed this thread!

I should have put it in General rather than vintage, but don't think you can move a whole thread

I'm 27....have owned my plane for almost 4 years now and have just purchased my first vehicle. I think I'm a bit late to the game but its my dream car and I've always wanted one since they came out in 2003. Its an Oxford White, 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 edition. 32-valve 4.6L V8, 310hp at the crank. 5-speed, of course, and coming soon, a custom plate :D

Almost forgot about this thread.

A couple weeks ago I had to move the airplane back to the avionics shop for a few weeks for some warranty work and an attempted completion of the job (still not done).   I took the current track car, which is street legal, to leave in the hangar since it rarely gets driven other than to track events.

94 300z 2+2, non-turbo, automatic-perfect for my 16y/o (now 17).  I wouldn't call it a restoration but a good bit of work done to get it ready for him.  Of course now it has neon and an a loud subwoofer...ugggghh

Posting just for fun as I've already had my turn at "show-n-tell", but this is our business promo vehicle. We seem to have quite a few car guy and bike guys so thought I'd toss this out just for fun. There is a GM 350 under the hood. Not a daily driver, but fun for business promo events. Makes absolutely no sense, but fun at promo and charity events.

Your plane should cost more than your house and car, right?

....or maybe both combined?

 "Vintage Travel!" for me.

I had a 1990 5 speed in Aztec Red Two seater.  You are a good dad.

I would like to “find” $30 grand.  I would buy a ‘12 Boss 302 in White and just listen to it howl through three gears.  I love that iteration of the Pony car.  Yours looks close colorwise.  Nice ride.
