TomR Posted October 1, 2017 Report Posted October 1, 2017 Let me be the first to say what a wonderful event was put on this year. It my first trip down but I will definitely be back next year. The effort that the team put in to putting the event on was very evident. Thank you. Tom Russo 5 Quote
LANCECASPER Posted October 1, 2017 Report Posted October 1, 2017 Hopefully next year MAPA and Mooney Summit are on different weekends. Since I live between Kerrville and Fredericksburg I went to MAPA and even though the weather didn't cooperate Wednesday - Friday, there was a much better turnout than I've seen in recent years. I take it that with good support at each of these events that interest in Mooney is up! 2 Quote
Seth Posted October 1, 2017 Report Posted October 1, 2017 Tom- Really glad you made it! Very nice M20J!! Looking forward to seeing you once we organize some more breakfast flights in the mid-Atlantic and thrilled you’ll be there next year at Mooney Summit! -Seth 1 Quote
Sabremech Posted October 1, 2017 Report Posted October 1, 2017 I to have to give kudos to the Mooney Summitt crew. I found the presenters to all have interesting and relevant information. Panama City Beach is a great destination and we're already planning on Summitt VI. David Staffeldt 4 Quote
Amelia Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Outstanding Mooney SummitV! It was my fifth, and as always, it was so very worth doing. This year, with a new bird’s care and feeding to learn, it was especially useful. Good seminars, most wonderfully organized, great people, super fun. Note to MAPA: Mooney Summit VI is already scheduled for the last weekend in September, 2018.Pick any of 51 other weekends next year, eh? 6 Quote
rocketman Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Thanks to everyone who attended Mooney Summit V. From what I hear from everyone, the meeting was helpful and met everyone's expectations, Mike and I go back and forth throughout the whole year trying to make the Summit meaningful and fresh. New speakers, new topics, formation flights, and best of all, on the beach and free!. And speaking about being free, please feel free to suggest new topics to discuss or if there are any speakers you think we should look at to make the Mooney Summit VI even better. Our dates next year is Sept 28-30. Hopefully, these dates will present no conflicts with anyone who wants to attend the Summit. Please email me at rdubin256@hotmail.com or to Mike Elliott at mike@aviating.com. 5 1 Quote
mike_elliott Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 For those of you that couldn't make it, here is a link to some of the pics, with new ones being added all the time. @rocketman, thanks again for making it all possible and putting up with me all year. 3 Quote
DanM20C Posted October 4, 2017 Report Posted October 4, 2017 We had a fantastic time at the Summit. My only regrets are not attending years past and arriving later on Friday afternoon. We missed the seminars that were at the airport. I also wish I was more aggressive with my bidding on the silent auction.. enjoy the headsets @rocketman.. Big thanks to @mike_elliott , @rocketman, and everyone else that help put on the Summit. We will be back next year! Cheers, Dan 4 Quote

Danb Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 Great summit On a lower note did anyone's plane get covered in white spots looks like dishwasher spots. I've now into 8 hours of deep cleaning the paint, along with polishing compound, hopefully when I get to the last application I'll get the swirls out. Quote
mike_elliott Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 The airport did have some rain Sat, @Danb. CarolAnn Garratts famous 201 that I flew up didn't have any "rain damage" that was observable. @Deb, whatsay you? Did the rain mess up the finish on your plane any? Quote
Danb Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 I don't think it was rain unless acid rain, we actually have to buff out the stains. I really have 8 hour in It already. Quote
rocketman Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 Debbie - your complaint is the only one I have heard about. My plane had no problems nor did anyone else that I have heard. What makes you think it was acid rain? Quote

rocketman Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 Has anyone else seen this problem at KECP during the Mooney Summit? Quote
mike_elliott Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 That spotting I dont believe happened at KECP, the rain was much harder in Panama City Beach. Isn't Acid rain reserved for @m20doc and his countrymen, or did we change the rules Quote
mike_elliott Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 Just now, bluehighwayflyer said: Here is Jeff’s thread ... Jim Oh wow! Maybe we do have an acid rain problem down south here! CA's plane didnt have an issue, (well at least with the paint). I know everyone really shined up their mistresses to show them off at the Summit V. I apologize if the weather deities messed things up. Fortunately, this will be in Seth's and Lee's corner to fix for next year, and is above my pay grade Quote

rocketman Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 I have been flying almost every other weekend to KECP since 2011 and never noticed any spots or unusual spotting on any of my planes. And believe me I maintain my planes and look at everything. Just contacted Mike Lerma, manager at Sheltair and he has not received any other problems with spotting on the paint from this weekend or any other time. The common denominator has to be somewhere else than at PCB. Interesting! Quote
rocketman Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 And BTW, looks like Nate maybe a CAT 1 in PCB later this weekend or Monday. Glad we had it last weekend. I was going to head down their for a pirate festival for Ocktoberfest at Pier Park this weekend but might head north instead. Quote
Bob_Belville Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 @Danb I do not believe I had any spotting. FWIW, my plane was parked in the center row. To my amateur eye your spots look more like (chemical) spray or splash than rain, were you parked on the perimeter, perhaps someone sprayed herbicide or pesticide along the fence line. There certainly was a lot of wind. My pitot cover was blown off, Nancy found it 50 yards away against the west fence. Quote
carusoam Posted October 5, 2017 Report Posted October 5, 2017 I didn't notice anything like Dan's spots. But my paint hasn't been cleaned in quite some time either.... I did see a collection of stuff near the inner ends of the flaps, looked like pollen may have been deposited there from the spring. When I'm back at the hangar later this week, I'll look a bit closer... With as much rain as we had, I was surprised nobody reported water in the tanks. I was expecting some, but got none... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

Not hardly waxed my plane prior to leaving Delaware, notice the spots putting the plane in the hanger. im not throwing stones at anyone, the FBO or area, I wanted to know it anyone had issues. I can't see the stains on the white, only the dark red finish similar to Jeffs. I don't want the committee to think I casting anything there way, I totally realize it's no fault of there's. Try not to be defensive, I have no issues other than cleaning the paint, it is coming out. Quote
