neilpilot Posted August 23, 2017 Report Posted August 23, 2017 Not good, but I don't know if I'd describe a nose gear collapse as a "Mooney down". Unless "down" means out of service, in which case my Mooney was also down on eclipse day. Down for it's annual. 1 Quote
cliffy Posted August 23, 2017 Author Report Posted August 23, 2017 If it walks like a duck and smells like a duck it must be a duck Again, we're wreckin' them faster than they make'm Quote

peevee Posted August 23, 2017 Report Posted August 23, 2017 I'm honestly shocked there wasn't a midair. Glad, but surprised. Quote
kortopates Posted August 24, 2017 Report Posted August 24, 2017 Actually both of these landing incidents where before eclipse day.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
bradp Posted August 24, 2017 Report Posted August 24, 2017 Well if they keep making them at 6/year or whatnot, the attrition rate will certainly outpace the production rate. So long as no souls injured, there's a necessity to have some proportion salvage planes available for parts when the median fleet age is something like 40 years. Quote

Not sure if the exact count but seemed like hundreds of Aircraft were at KSRB and within minutes after totality came and went people began bugging out. Planes were backed up nearly the whole length of the taxiway so we waited. On the way home I saw more enroute cruising aircraft in the air than ever before, and then suddenly started getting traffic alerts on ForeFlight. One of them was a ghost image of my own plane and that usually doesn't bother me, but this time it really got my attention. Quote
TTaylor Posted August 28, 2017 Report Posted August 28, 2017 Not sure if I would be taking a Mooney into Big Creek, Idaho. 3500 feet of rough turf at 5700 feet elevation. Elevation 5743 ft Dimensions: 3550 x 110 ft. / 1082 x 34 m Surface: turf, in fair condition Quote

steingar Posted August 28, 2017 Report Posted August 28, 2017 As they get less common they will grow in value. Supply, demand, and all that. Quote
