Rudder pedal extensions - can't find 'em anywhere!

I'm a proud new (short) owner of a Mooney 201 and had really been counting on putting in rudder pedal extensions to make the seating arrangement a little more comfortable.  However, calls to multiple Mooney service centers (including just about everyone you can find on the internet that lists those pedals on a price list) has yielded no luck finding this part.  Apparently they are permanently out of stock since they come from the factory and its pretty much shut down up there.  Any suggestions on how to find some?  I am hoping not to have to fly my Mooney in platform shoes... Thanks!  Becca

Becca:

There are a set of drawings available, but I am not sure if one can have the parts manufactured from them.

I have a set that were contributed by Amelia, another forum member.  If you want a set, let me know via e-mail and I will e-mail them to you.

Hi I got pedal extensions from Lasar Mooney Service centre in Norther California They come with drawings for 1.5 inches or 3 inch extensions. They work great! Check with Dan at Lazar.

Have you tried the salvage yards?  They may not even know they are on a plane in their yard.  Perhaps somebody with them on their plane can send a photo and you can forward them to a few of the salvage companies.  You would still need paperwork, but perhaps a field approval using the drawings others have provided.

I've got a set here (in Europe) of the 3" extensions that I removed from the left seat - at 6'1" I don't need them!

Wanna make me an offer Wink

I hope somebody figures this out. I went flying today, and there were some "spirited" winds out today and I found myself thinking once again that another 1 1/2" would really be more comfortable.

we finally had some fabbed up at a machine shop, and installed them as owner-produced parts.   Man what a difference.  Any my wife doesn't have to fly her airplane in high heels, not that that is a bad thing to see.
