chrisk Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 On the Trump side. I'm sure Donald Trump is not the owner or operator. He is not going to jail. What ever corporate entity that owns the jet is not going to jail. the pilot will not be going to jail. You only go to jail when you are stupid enough to work for the post office and embarrass the federal government by landing a flying lawn chair on the capitol lawn. My question is: Why does a registration only last 3 years? It seems a bit short and the government could save lots of money by making the registration last 20 years. Quote

Pick one 1) that's how long it takes to process the app 2) that's how long it takes someone to go off break to process the app 3) that's how long the overloaded PDP11's they are using takes to index on an N number field 4) that's how long it will take the Post office to get it there 5) that's the maximum interest and penalty period 6) It was thought up by a politician 7) that's how long it will take to train someone to process the app 8) that's how long it will take to get a decision as to where the $5 should be deposited 9) Election every 4 years, fodder for the election would be best served in 3 years 3 Quote
chrisk Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Interestingly enough, I just saw the following in the FAA extension bill: Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) introduced an amendment that extends the registration period for noncommercial general aviation aircraft to five years 1 Quote

Clarence That's how it worked here until just a few years ago. 2010-ish, I think, is when the silly 3-year registration period started. why? Ask the poloticos who implemented the changes. Quote
DonMuncy Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Three years is probably too short, but I can see the need for some registration. The old way, no one knew how many planes were out there, and planes could be destroyed or parted out with no ability to reuse the registration number. 2 Quote
mooniac15u Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Considering all the other calendar based things we track and keep current the 3 year registration hardly seems worth complaining about. In Ohio we have to register our planes every year and it costs a little more than $5. Quote

Hank Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 I stand corrected! I knew it was per seat . . . And that $5 wasn't enough. How fast we forget! Got to mow the grass again tomorrow. The neighborhood pool will be opening soon, too. And I need to go flying . . . I'm feeling a distinct lack of altitude, but there are T-storms moving through today. Broken skies, intermittent low and clearing, occasional downpours. Not good for light GA. But tomorrow, tomorrow . . . . 1 Quote

Just last weekend @steingar and I held the inaugural meeting of the Central Ohio Mooney Group. 1 Quote
bradp Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 I propose an amendment to the naming bill. Should be named Central Ohio Mooney Association or COMA. :-) 1 Quote
Hank Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 Wow. I used to be a member of the Central Ohio Woodturners (COW). Sometimes there is more to it than the name . . . Quote
Amelia Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 I bailed out of Ohio a couple of decades ago, when it was still $5/seat. It is still fun to go back and see old friends and smell the Amish agriculture, but my visitors from Wooster a week ago or so, still had snow on the ground. In April. That's just wrong!!! They loved Edenton's garden tour, enjoyed the azaleas tolerated the 65-degree sunshine I apologized for. It is usually 75 here that week. Quote
