ArtVandelay Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 Here is another, but in flight, I always thought it was a clogged injector, this was picking up the plane after it's annual. Notice the FF drop, as well as the RPM. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 BTW, JPI mark the probe bad, hence the reason it stays low in the data aboved. Quote
bradp Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 Normally the valves rotate. Prior to a stuck valve would coke result in loss of normal rotation? Is there an EGT rotation signature (harmonic) that can be picked out of the probe noise prior to failure ... Just thinking out loud. Quote
Raptor05121 Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Yes there is, I remember Mike Busch pointing this out when I watched one of his free seminar videos. Quote

Hook that up to a Raspberry PI and have the Raspberry PI running analytical software that notifies and provides the pilot with real time information based on the analytic. Right now, When you plug a storage device in to the EDM900 it puts up a prompt and asks you if you want to download new flight data. You say yes and it proceeds to write files out. The engine information is not displayed until the file transfer is complete. So you'll just have to hack the EDM software to constantly stream the data to your Pi. Quote

I've been curious about what if any data is being sent on it, but have never looked to see. Quote

jlunseth Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 If I am recalling what was said at the APS correctly, it shows up as a jittery EGT, in other words the EGT is quickly jumping back and forth. Now, mine always does that a little anyway but that is because the sensitivity is set at, I believe, 1 dF. So just because EGT is moving somewhat does not prove anything. The jump they were talking about is bigger than that. A jumpy EGT can also be a probe issue. I recall something about there being a tiny star washer used with the JPI probe, and if it is installed in the wrong orientation, or if the connection to the probe is loose, it looks similar. I had the probe issue once upon a time, have never seen the EGT issue on my engine. Quote
