Godfather Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Just finished reading a AOPA article and to be honest this is the first time I've been truly disappointed with an aircraft company. Giving up the rights to ownership, doubling the price, offering $70k bump in line bids, etc. Is this modern aviation at its finest?
carusoam Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Dissapointing is the 200AMU price for a flying jet ski... Best regards, -a-
PTK Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 They are legends in their own minds. These fools must actually think they have a desirable product! Or they're doing a good job fooling their target market. Look at the messages they put out in their marketing slogans: ...You've ignored limits and boundaries all your life, don't stop now...go out and take off anytime you want and from anywhere you want!... Some pretending pilots actually believe this and, predictably, will kill themselves. So Icon desperatly needs to protect themselves from their target market. They must know this and if so they're doing a diservice imo. Way too much hype, money and BS for an ugly, underperforming, plastic, light sport. What real self respecting pilot would buy or fly that thing? I love my Mooney! 1
Mooneymite Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 One more reason experimental aircraft are so popular. The builder has true ownership. 1
Yetti Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Even so.... I can't see the difference between the I Con and a Searay....
Shadrach Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 I actually really like the ICON. I think it is truly innovative. What I can't figure out is why they went LS. I think it's a great looking machine and if they gave it an engine that would make it perform as good as it looks, they might have a future.
bradp Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Wow the company thinks so very highly of itself. 1
Godfather Posted April 1, 2016 Author Report Posted April 1, 2016 The problem I have with this logic... I log into MS and announce the I'm flying my Icon to AK. They notice this because searches are running around the clock on the A5. They check my location and flying habits and if it looks like I'm heading NW on a mission to the rugged new world they contact me and force me to sell it back to the company (@ a presumed low trade in rate).
Shadrach Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Wow... my take on Hawkins is that he's a collectivist d-bag trying to create a centrally controlled, liability free, safe space for a company that has yet to deliver a plane. I hope every customer cancels. ICON - When you want more than just Federal regulations. 4

The following is from their website: "...Kirk flew F-16s in the U.S. Air Force and 767s for American Airlines..." "...an avid sport and flying enthusiast for 25 years..." "...is also a seaplane instructor pilot with hundreds of hours bush flying in Alaska..."
Hank Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 Kirk may be his middle name, or even a nickname. You won't find me listed under "Hank" in any banking or govt registry. 1
bradp Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 Is this the first Facebook airplane? Likes count more than deliverables? Pilot: let's go flying today Icon A5: Sorry Dave. I'm afraid can't do that. Kirk won't let me. You might tarnish his reputation. 1
