Hi all,

My G model is in the shop getting an avionics upgrade, and during this time I'm taking advantage of the hangar space and fixing a few odds and ends (cleaning, lubricating, etc.)

I pulled off the upper cowling and noticed a few gaps and cracks in the doghouse plenum.  Nothing major or structural, but many on this forum have indicated that filling those gaps can really improve engine cooling (my temps are rather high, since I don't have any of the cowling mods).

I was wondering what brand silicon sealant others have used?  They have various brands available at home improvement and auto parts stores, but I wasn't sure exactly what to look for or if I need to purchase something specific to aircraft applications.

Thanks!

The red permetex from autozone works well too. The clears will fade to yellow/brown and look like crap.

I use GE silicone II from Home Depot, it's a nice gloss black.

I can attest to its effectiveness.  default_rolleyes.gif

Thank you everyone.  I purchased and used the GE Silicone II.  It will be another week or so before I can fly it, but I'll post back with my results.
