Are you sure the audio ground and the connector itself is properly isolated from the aircraft frame?

If you can hear the capacitors charging, and discharging... you have really good hearing...   

The old strobes are known for this effect.

The LEDs, I believe are free of this...

Lets ask our LED light expert...  @OSUAV8TER (strobe light sounds in audio system, LEDs don’t have this right?)

You shouldn't hear the pinging from the LEDs but there are a number of factors that could be driving this. Old audio panel/intercom, wiring, etc. Generally speaking though, LED lighting will eliminate the pinging because they do not charge to discharge to work.
