moosebreath Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 I have an annual coming up next month on my 96 M20J. This service bulletin has not been performed according to my records. My ailerons are not binding now. Is it worth the cost to perform this work during the annual? Surely someone has some experience with this bulletin.
N201MKTurbo Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 http://www.mooney.com/en/sb/M20-289A.pdf It looks like 15 min work and a few dollars of parts once the plane is opened up. If the links are rubbing there should be witness marks. If there is not, I wouldn't worry about it.
moosebreath Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Posted October 29, 2015 My links were rubbing on the bellcrank hence the service bulletin work was worth the effort. The kit to accomplish the bulletin is all standard aircraft hardware with the exception of several aluminum spacers. The cost of the kit was around $160! That is a lot for a few spacers .... It is simple to check for interference with the belly panel off during the annual. I reccomend at least looking at this area.
PTK Posted October 29, 2015 Report Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) On the ground if you move pilot's aileron up and down briskly do you get a clicking sound? Edited October 29, 2015 by PTK spelling
