Bill_Carter Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Happy Friday! Does anyone know of a good Mooney mechanic in Tulsa? Edit: for a prebuy? Thanks. Bill Quote
N33GG Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Don Maxwell in Longview, TX is close enough, and worth the effort. 1 Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Happy Friday! Does anyone know of a good Mooney mechanic in Tulsa? Edit: for a prebuy? Thanks. Bill Take it to Maxwell at GGG. If the seller won't move it there for his scrutiny, it's probably not worth buying. 2 Quote
Bill_Carter Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 Point taken. This is the plane I am looking at: http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/MOONEY-M20K-231/1980-MOONEY-M20K-231/1370093.htm Quote
carusoam Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Make sure it is what you want to own. Negotiate with owner, regarding PPI, how AW issues will be handled. Go directly to GGG. Don can get the plane moved /relocated using proper Mooney skilled pilots. These are just my ideas on how I would do it...a simple PP is all I have. I also used this method when I bought my O five years ago... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
N33GG Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 That is a beautiful aircraft, and if I were buying it, I would definitely want Don's eyes on it before I did so. Good luck... looks awesome! Quote
KSMooniac Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 There is at least one thread here on that particular plane. I would definitely take it to Don...which is what i did 8.5 years ago from Wichita. We did a day trip starting with an early departure and were back in time for dinner. Quote
Bill_Carter Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 I did a search on MS for the N number and came up with nothing. Any ideas where any threads are on this plane? Quote

Bill_Carter Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 Well then, I guess I will keep looking. Anyone know of a 231 with Merlyn and intercooler with a mid or less time engine? Would love a 252, but the good ones seem out of my $$ range. I saw two 252TSEs on Controller that looked great, but one was out of country. Then I got thinking, these are both 1981s. They didn't start making 252s until 86. Quote
KSMooniac Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Those were likely 262 conversions...basically a 252 firewall forward installed on a 231 airframe, but retains the 12V system. The Tulsa plane might still be worth a call. If it continues to not sell they might re-think their prebuy policy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
carusoam Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Bill, Have you seen the plane with your own eyes? I understand the first person's dissapointment. Expected to see top notch paint and interior and got outdoor chalk with duct tape in the interior. They drove 8 hours to be disappointed. That would make it impossible to have a clear mind for the more important parts. If it is too far away to go see it. Keep looking. My O search started with a visit to see the plane while I was traveling for work. The plane matched its description very closely. (Jimmy and David) A K with a properly and recently updated FWF is going to be expensive.... Best regards, -a- Quote
Bill_Carter Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 It is too far to just hop over and see it. I am in VA right now. I learned of a fellow today at KJYO Leesburg that might want to sell his 252, but from what I understand he doesn't fly it much. There is a Rocket for sale in HEF I will go see tomorrow. It is really on the high end of what I want to pay though. Quote
Bill_Carter Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 Does anyone know about N252BQ? Quote
