It would seem my gremlin ran to the M.P. gauge. Does anybody have a recommendation for a rebuild? Quick fixes?

I am thinking I will install a CGR30-p, but I really wanted to wait till Airventure to see if there are show discounts.

Thanks!

Matt

I just did the CGR-30P upgrade. All told, about $7k+ installed. I'll sell you my MP gauge I had removed.

Call the different instrument guys to see if they will give you the discount in advance...

See what they say.

Try something like this...

"I'm thinking of purchasing a CGR... Unable to wait... What do I need to do to get the show discount today...?"

Make sure you know what your installation cost is going to be in advance to avoid surprises.

Some shops would prefer that you purchase the hardware through them.

Best regards,

What is the problem with your gauge?

It could be just a loose line or fitting depending on what you are seeing.

Does it show correct MP when engine not running? @30" at SL minus 1" for every 1000' above SL

Does it not "suck down" to idle MP when engine is running?

It shows ambient pressure on the ground. Best it will do is 22" at full power. The fuel pressure side is not working either.

Damn, had to do mine last year also.

Any number of shops can rebuild it. Look in Trade-A-Plane.

You might be able to sell it after the upgrade and recoop some of the expense.

Matt -- I have mine that I removed when I went electric. Let me know if you are interested. It has markings for a 1975 F.

Hey Marauder, stop thinking that by posting photos of your EDM900, we're all going to go to our mechanics and get a quote on the install, as we wait for the Oshkosh special!

It's working! I've got an estimate of $4000+taxes, now let's wait for THE deal!

Snazzzzy, Chris!

Thanks Anthony. Still working out the bugs. Little troubled by the low fuel quantity that my mechanic determined the plane held. 50 gallons versus 54.8 expected is troubling.

The fuel flow is off as well. Had a major pucker factor seeing 12.5 gallons per hour on takeoff power. Will be playing with the k factor for the next few weeks to dial it in. I had the JPI 830 dialed in to a few tenths of a gallon at fill ups. It is reading at least 2.5 gallons per hour low from the first two flights I took. Have a long flight scheduled for tomorrow and should be able to see how far off it is.

The temps all look good and the rest of the primary instrument replacements are reading where they should be.

Don't you guys just love new toys? :)

Shows about 22" engine off at 850msl.

Shows about 23" at funpower... Ummm, full power.

Will suck down to about 11" at idle.

Very slow to respond to inputs.

I will check connections, but I suspect the gauge is bad. I guess after 40 years this is to be expected.

Yes, there is no doubt the engine is developing full power.

I like the EI gauges, I would have to redo the whole side panel to make it all fit though. As far as the EDM... I will have to up my crack sales to get one of those!

I would be installing it myself so the install cost would be low. Hmmmm...... What to do....

+1 for CGR-30p.  I'll be getting one this winter and also installing myself.  I am curious what other people are are setting up what's on page 1?

I was thinking for page 1:

Manifold pressure

RPM

Oil temp

Oil press

Fuel press

EGT

CHT

The page 2 primary would be either ammeter or vacuum, but haven't figured that out yet.  Ill also have separate fuel quantity gauges; something like the 1.5" square Mitchell gauges.
