base698 Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 I can't find much information on the Thunderbird 261 conversion. Anyone know GPH and Cruise at various power settings? Anyone have information about the All American Aircraft Sales people? Curious about this plane in particular. http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/MOONEY-M20K-231/1980-MOONEY-M20K-231/1359619.htm?dlr=1&pcid=17527 Quote
LANCECASPER Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 The guys at All American are top notch!! Quote
DonMuncy Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 +1 for All American. Both Jimmy and David are straight shooters and nice guys. Quote
Loogie Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Jimmy and Dave are world class, they paint a very realistic picture of their product. They follow through and do what they say they are going to do. They found me a jewel of a M20J at a fair price. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 It looks like the engine should be flown like the 252. (Same exact engine identifier). That means 11.5 gallons/hr LOP will give you between 160 knots down low and 185+ knots up in the Flight Levels 170 knots is a nice goal at 10-12k Quote
carusoam Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Base, Where are you located? Visit with David if you can... Best regards, -a- Quote
M20F Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Jimmy/Dave keep their word I know it first hand, couldn't reccomend them more. Quote
chrisk Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Looks nice. When my engine needs an overhaul, I'd like to upgrade to the MB engine with a conversion like this. And if I was buying, I'd ask about the useful load and who overhauled the engine. edit: Never mind I looked back at the add. It's a factory overhaul. Looks like it could be a decent deal. Quote
carusoam Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Bummer... That happens often when searching for your first plane. It can still happen on the second plane, too. There is no way to get up to speed on the purchase process and know what you really want without running out of time... The next time, you will already know what you want, and know to lock down the deal with a purchase agreement and some form of down payment (earnest money?), always dependent on a PPI... So many planes are being sold this time of year. Especially compared to years in recent history. AAA is known to have some of the nicest available Mooneys... Best regards, -a- Quote
