Hey guys right now in my F model I have the basic old engine gauges, I want to be able to run my engine at perfect settings including LOP. We are looking at getting a digital engine monitoring gauge hopefully soon and maybe this weekend at sun n fun, what is yours opinion for a good engine monitor and a budget friendly one as well?

I went with the JPI EDM 930 for my '66 M20E 2-1/2 years ago and I am very satisfied. Cleaned up the panel putting everything together on one, large screen, easy to read even on the right side in digital and graphic formats. Lean Find procedure works great. RPM/MAP/Alarms appear on a RAD (remote alarm display) right in front of pilot. Pics in my gallery.

Considering all it does I would say it is budget friendly relative to partial solutions.

It all depends on your needs. If the instruments are on their way out, the splash out a bit and get the top-of-the line.

But if you just want to do LOP then JPI 700 (or a used 800 in good condition - ask Aerodon!)  with fuel flow will do the job. Save the money to buy GAMI injectors!

If you're thinking of a JPI 700, you owe it to yourself to compare it to an Insight Avionics G2. Same price or less for a much more modern instrument.
