BobAustin Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 Wondering if any Missile (or Rocket) owners have switched. Mine is 14 V thus two batteries in the box far back in the tail. The dimensions are slightly different between the two batteries and they should fit...but ? Had problems with Gill G-35 life probably due to the inability to add water...thus going to sealed should help. Comments welcomed. Quote
Seth Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 When I purchased my 1983 Missile it had Gils. They stopped holding charge well so I replaced them with concords two years ago. Not hard at all. -Seth Quote
BobAustin Posted November 7, 2014 Author Report Posted November 7, 2014 Thanks Seth...I will order the Concords. Quote
Bob Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 I installed the Gill the first month of my 231 ownership. Replaced again after 2 years again with the Gill and it only lasted 2 years. Concord is has gone 3 now and is going strong. Concord only for me! I only use AGM batteries in my cars and motorcycles. No acid leaks and more dependable power. AGM=Less Stress! 1 Quote

dcrogers11 Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 I was about to post a thread asking the same question except for my '64C. I was stranded in South Texas in my '46 Cessna 140 and all that I could find was a Concord and so purchased it to get the Cessna home. Now I'm thinking I will pull the Gill out of the Mooney and put the Concord in it. I had heard good and bad on the Concords life span. An A&P had told me as long as the plane gets flown regularly, the Concord will do well. Plus, you don't have the recurring problem of corrosion in the battery box which I had repaired during the last annual. Don Quote

Don Don -- the Concorde sealed AGM batteries are awesome, 2 Gills in the first 5 years or so of ownership, 18 years with the 2 Concorde. The first was changed out after 7 years because I thought it was in too long. This one is working on year 11. Quote
