GEAR DOWN light disappears with nav lights on.

Ok. I have studied the schematics and am a little stumped.

When the nav lights are on, it completely disables the gear down sensing system. I am reasonably sure it is only supposed to dim. The schematic shows a straight wire between the nav light switch and the GEAR DOWN indicator light.

To me, it looks like a dead short. Obviously it's not. It is one of the strangest schematics I have ever seen.

Here is the question. Is there a relay, resistor, fuse in that circuit that would be used for dimming that is not shown on the schematic. If so, where is it located?

I just emailed you a hand drawn schematic I did 20 years ago. It simplifies the wiring schematic for the gear portion of our 75Fs. I also sent you the section for your F. We are 7 serial numbers apart and in the same build group.

The schematic I have from 1980 service manual M20 series, for the F show no such connection, it shows the gear warning lights on it's own circuit FWIW.

My m20j gear down light dims when nav lights are on there has to be something in there that failed....what a PITA!

In reviewing the schematic for the hundredth time, there are two possible culprits. A diode and a resistor. I am guessing the diode is bad. Now... Time to physically locate the diode. This should be fun. :/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Try following the wires from the switch and/or annunciation panel. I seem to remember they are on the wiring bundle.
