Olivier-Rouchard Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 I also just bought a '66E model Two similar topics at the same time... My name is Olivier Rouchard from France and I also purchased a '66E model with a few mods. I've been flying for the past two months with it, putting on 82 hours in 8 weeks (and just starting). She certainly doesn't feel like a 47 years old lady. You know how it feels to fly one of these fabulous E model... Here are a few modifications: JPI EDM-700 Engine Monitor Arnav FC-10 Digital Fuel Flow Precise Flight Standby Vacuum System 1” suction gauge Whelen Wing tip strobes Sky Tec light weight starter Monroy Long Range Fuel Tanks (86 gals) Lasar modified nose gear truss GAMI Fuel Injectors Shoulder belts Cowl Closure Fairing from Lake Aero Styling Windshield Mod (201 type one piece windshield) Lake Aero Styling aileron lower gap seals John A. Porter wing root fairings Lake Aero Styling hinge covers on elevator and rudder assembly John A. Porter flap gap fairings, flap hinge fairings and fuselage fairing at the tail cone Landing Light Flush Cover Oxygen System Kit (Mountain High), KF-115 cylinder (3257 Liters / 863 USG), 2 EDS-D1 Electronic oxygen delivery system computer, yields 211 hours at 18,000 ft. Air/Oil-separator: You can fill 8 qts.(better for the engine) without throwing out oil and without greasy belly Digital Outside Air Temperature Gauge and on, and on... She certainly is different than my daily Airbus 320 and this is what makes her so charming to fly. I take it back; in reality she is not that different from my airliner ;-) Here are a few pictures and I hope to enjoy this bird for a very long time. I live in Strasbourg, France (on the eastern part of France, on the German border) and I would be glade to get in touch with fellow Mooney travelers in the area. Cheers, Olivier 1 Quote
chrisk Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 If I were buying an E, I would want one equipped this way. Sound like a very nice plane! 1 Quote
mooneygirl Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 I love my 1965 E model. It is the perfect airplane for me. Zippy and fast and economical. As Bill Wheat said, "the E is spry!" Congrats to you both and welcome to the Mooney family. We are all a little crazy but you will have fun! Quote
yvesg Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Salut Oliver, bienvenue dans le groupe. Yves 1 Quote
Bob_Belville Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 another nice E! Love it, welcome to the club. Averaging 10 hours per week! You must commute to work. Quote
Seth Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Congratulations! The E is a great performer. Welcome to MooneySpace. -Seth Quote

DaV8or Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Welcome! More and more of you guys in Europe. You guys need to have a MooneySpace fly in in Europe somewhere. 1 Quote
DrBill Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 I love my "E" and you will love yours too. Just flew mine today for a few landings because i could. Good Luck with it. BILL Quote
airbornepinata Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Sounds like a nicely equipped bird. I hope to get mine equipped that well over time. Great photos, and I'm curious do you have to change the registration from U.S. to French ? Quote
drapo Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Félicitations, Olivier, E c'est pour EXCELLENT! That's why they called it the Super 21! Quote
DaV8or Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 One sexy 47 year old lady;) There you go! If he does have to re register it, it could be F-MILF. Doh! I think the thread just took a wrong turn... Quote
flight2000 Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Welcome and nice looking E! I'm only a few hours drive away in Wiesbaden and was in Strasbourg for the Xmas Market back in December. Love the city and friendly people there (especially when compared to Paris... ) . I still don't know how you guys afford the gas here though... Brian Quote
adrian Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Sounds lovely! It is the same age as mine, and has a lot of the same mods. Unfortunately I'm not keeping up with you on flying hours - only 55 hours in the last 8 weeks, and that includes flying it to France from America. flight2000 - We afford the gas by flying M20Es with Monroy tanks which allow us to fill up where it is marginally cheaper. Despite which it is still so, so painful. $12.92 / usg yesterday, at the idyllic Saanen airport in Switzerland. Quote
yvesg Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Perhaps I should stop complaining about our > $8 a gallon in Canada... Yves Quote
Olivier-Rouchard Posted September 5, 2013 Author Report Posted September 5, 2013 France and Spain have cheaper fuel. We pay something like 10.5 US$ per Gallon... Quote
carusoam Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Don't look for the thread $1 /gal in TX.... Best regards, -a- Quote
adrian Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 I know... Don't depress me! But as a small consolation, we have a nicer Paris than Texas, even if 100LL costs ten times as much! Quote

It is good for 4 knots -- or I I should say it was for me! Another advantage was better cooling by closing up the guppy mouth. Quote

I can't give you a break out by each upgrade. I have a '66E with 201 style cowl, windshield, and various gap seals plus PFS exhaust and 1 pc belly. I cruise @ 152-154 KTAS 65% power. "Top" cruise @ 75% would be ~160 KTAS. Quote
CDF219 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 wow that is a good thing. Im happy with her so far. I of course owning a Mooney want to go faster but really like the look as well. Is there any one that is better than the other? Is there more than one company making them? Is there any Information out there on the Brittan autopilot like a users manual (mine works) i just dont know how to operate it. Quote
