Great looking plane. I think if you posted some price point for folks to start at you will get better response. Looks like a clean and well kept airplane. I'm not in the market and holding out for a Rocket within my budget. I do think most prospective buyers will be curious and maybe apprehensive to consider sending a PM or offer not knowing what you might have in mind as a starting price point..Just my .02 Good luck with the sale

Speaking of Homecoming I'm still working on attending. For anyone wanting to go there are still some rooms available as well as rental cars (according to online checks). I guess there is another big event happening the same weekend so get them while you can. I called MAPA and she said they have had excellent response and are expecting a couple of hundred Mooniacs so far.

Well the avionics shop finally got caught up enough to get my Accu-Trak Auto Pilot installed today. Can't wait to pick it up Friday afternoon if the storms move out. I searched the forum and talked with Brittain a few times as far as proper usage. Looks pretty straight forward ( I think). Big shout out to the folks at Brittain. These units are getting slightly harder to come by so it was not something my shop was overly familiar with. I called a few times when I first bought this back in the fall/winter. I sent it to them for a look-over and yellow tag. They tweaked and checked it over and sent it back within a few weeks. I know my tech called Brittain 3-4 times during the install just to make sure everything was done perfectly and for some minor clarification. I called twice today to ask about the sequencing and activating while in flight etc.. The guys at Brittain were always available to answer questions and NO question was a dumb question. I'll be using the GTN 750 with Stec-30 Alt Hold and Accu-Trak. Hopefully all will be dialed in right off the bat. Since it's been sitting on the shelf since fall/winter I'm pretty excited to give it a try. Panel space is now at a premium on my bird with no room without stepping up to a remote audio panel...I guess I'm done for now..LOL

That is very cool. I knew we were fast and furious. Like it!!

Takes tough skin to be a Mooniac.., but we are actually pretty mild compared to some boards. Eventually, we all agree or disagree, but we still get back up. What was the preverbal saying. "If you knock me down please make sure I fall face up so I can get back up for more". . Good luck and get that bird checked out.

I've got the CO Cockpit Monitor (from Sportys). $149.95 , I am very pleased with the size and options as far a notification features. Flashes, vibrates and audible.

Not talking about the easy stuff like paint, engines or aftermarket parts etc.. I'm talking about smaller Mooney specific items. The things that break and you have to buy from a salvaged Mooney. I know I have some plastic that needs replacing, "Plane Plastics" does not carry it. How often do we see posts from MS guys asking for this or that?. What about the small mixture knobs somebody was looking for a while back. I don't expect Mooney to be like Ford or GMC for parts availability, but I would like to see some of the specialized smaller items be something they consider being available. Even larger pieces like skins or rods. Salvage parts are great and inexpensive compared to what you buy from factory, but what about that odd part no salvage company happens to have that keeps my 73 or even newer bird grounded until the owner finds a certified replacement. I would be willing to spend the extra for a factory produced part instead of polishing and waiting for a salvage part show up. I'm all about selling the million dollars birds. I just think there will be a limited market if they place all the focus on new sales. If you have 7000 of us already buying hard to find parts and refurb services I would think that knowing there is 7000 smaller buyers looking for hard to get parts would be a bird in the hand (no pun intended). Unfortunately, I won't be in the millionaire line buying new. I'll be in the line looking for the weird part only Mooney made like the replacement panels to keep my 73 flying.

If Mooney does not offer "something" for the existing fleet of 7000 owners such as refurb programs, better parts availability and support for the current owners and instead only focuses on the "Millionaire" populous for new birds I really don't see the new revitalization much different then the road of the past...and we all know where that took them. When they first announced the resurrection of Mooney people stood up and noticed. I think the Mooney market might have even taken a slight upswing..(if that's even possible in GA with the current economics). I think if some effort was made to keep the middle class group (like me) flying my 73 E Model and helping to keep parts and refurb services available included as a major part of their business plan it would have more teeth and a better chance of working. I guess in a nut shell.. A silly analogy, but good comparison. I hope they won't keep swinging at the pitch hoping for the homerun every time just trying to sell the new million dollar Mooney to the millionaires. Instead go for the base hits to help us keep our birds up to date and offer refurb/repair services etc. Keep swinging to get men on base (keep us in the mix), the millionaire homeruns will come. There are about 7000 Mooney owners and birds registered (approx.) I know I spent 50K+ last year in upgrades. Not going to be an average number, but there are a few of us that keep pumping money into the aging fleets. Just my .02.

Not an expert and hate to see a Mooney bird grounded, especially a MS member. In all honestly after seeing some of pics I can see why some attention was drawn to the plane. I do admire your candor in showing the pics in a fair unedited and unbiased depiction. There are probably a few areas as mentioned above that I would see needing repaired just from a safety standpoint. Take this post in the spirit I intend. Did he get carried away, certainly. They often forget we are keeping 60 yr old birds alive. Did he address a few things that I think needed attention..I have to agree he was fairly accurate on some points. I wish you the very best and hopefully she will be wheels up soon with minimal expense.

Looks great and congrats If that's your hanger I like it as much as the plane..LOL.

Gotta go with Don on that one. Doug did a great job on mine. There are several paint shops on the field at Mena though. I'm sure a few good and a few not so good.

Congrats..Great looking bird

Welcome to MS. There have been many posts asking the same question..It will all boil down to a few certain questions only you can answer. Check the forum through the Search function and you will see many have asked the very same question. Prices are good and planes are plentiful. Good luck and if there is a specific question about any given model there is a wealth of information here on MS. Again welcome, just trying to save you some redundant posts.

I agree with the thought that if a shop sells you the part you will get a much better deal on the price and install. Ironically, I had my shop redo my panel with GTN750, STec and much more last summer. They got the parts and got me in quick for the install at a fair price. Same shop only a year later I came a across a GPSS module from a forum member, I sent it off to Brittian for check-over and update yellow tag. Stopped by the same shop back in December and told them I wanted them to install it. They said they were pretty well booked up until after the first of the year..I've checked in a few times and they are still pretty booked. They had me scheduled for last week and had to move it up. Even at $90 an hour you can tell they still prefer to sell the part. Goes to show how much profit and mark-up there must be in avionics. I'm either heading to Tulsa or looking for another shop in the west TN area to finish the GPSS unit. Got long winded, but you get the point. Sad part for them is I had a few other items I probably could have been convinced to let them supply and install..their loss. Seems like these avionics shops are balls to the wall or nothing, never a middle of the road workload.

I wish my door lock worked. Needs adjusting and it seems like the shop always forgets to take a look at it since it's usually the last thing on my "If you get a chance would you please the door lock, it needs adjusting"..seems like they always forget to get to that one. They have mentioned it's a PIA to work on. I wish they did work. The hatch lock works great. Maybe sometime they will have time..LOL

Pay attention..NEVER HURRY. I get a call from my shop very early one morning advising me they have a opening to get my strobes installed, hurry up and get the plane to them ASAP to get started. I was not scheduled for another two weeks. I hurry up, get ready to run by work and get them started before I head out to the airport. I pre-flight, but also catch my self thinking about what I was postponing by rushing to the airport first and into work a few hours late. Jump in the plane and take off for the 15 minute flight to the shop. As I get close to the shop I radio call that I'm on a long final just thinking, "Okay, drop the plane off and use their courtesy car and drive back to work, return the car later that afternoon. Sounds like a solid plan. I do a mental landing check list in a hurry to get it down and parked. Gas, mix, prop, flaps...um, with my head thinking about the excitement of "I'm getting these installed early", but I also really need to get back to work quickly. I'm now on final approaching touchdown and pulling the throttle back and the stall horn starts going off, it's actually going off because the MP was low and gear was not down. I was thinking it was just going off because I was in landing flare configuration. I was that low to the ground. I continue to cut power and get lower...I'm waiting and waiting to touch down. It's a short field and finally I decide I've gone past safe touchdown and I'm too fast. I throttle up for go around. Reach to gear up and you guessed it, gear was never down. I missed it by not paying attention..I was in a HURRY. I do a go around cursing myself thinking you dumb shi# how could I have missed GUMPS. After a tight pucker factor landing on the go around all is good. They asked about the low fly-by..umm, With quick thinking I said "I was just waking you guys up". I hated to admit my stupidity and inattention. Now over a year later I ALWAYS triple check. Downwind, base and final. Overkill, yeap. My luck card has been played out. I NEVER HURRY. I still think the gear warning and stall horn should be separate components and different audible warnings. I know about "Bitchin Betty" and have given serious thought. Take your time. Lesson learned as a "Rookie" and never forgotten. Still a Rookie and always learning

1981 M20J: Garmin 480, 369-SMOH, 2004 P&I, Speed Brakes!

I emailed w/ the OP about the plane. He is a broker for the plane. Apparently, it is owned by two or three guys. He said they have a firm offer on the table of low 80s, but were holding out for more $. This has been a few weeks ago..not sure where it stands right now. I see he has not made any updates on status. -
Congrats..Looks great!

I'm glad others are forgetting as well. Seems like after I'm airborne and checking to make sure that everything is in the green, visual scanning for traffic, trees, safe abort landing areas etc, I often forget the infamous toe-tap. After the gear is tucked away I suddenly think, "Crap, forgot to tap the brakes, got to remember that..urgh". Glad to see I'm not the only one who forgets.

Very clean looking plane. Anytime you need a Mooney fix stop by Dyersburg. Good luck

Portable ADS-B Solutions -- Moment of Truth!
TWinter replied to Marauder's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I was wondering the same? How the GDL88 would have picked up the traffic figuring it was a 152/172 and likelihood of it probably not having ADS-B in or out. I'm still learning and experimenting with the ADS-B concept. Ground stations, air to air, parasitic..Lots to know to REALLY understand all of it in my opinion. I'm probably overly redundant, but I'm using the Skyguard/WingsX on a IPad along side a 696 connected to Zaon XRX for local transponder traffic, XM weather and XM radio. Gotta fly to my 70s tunes, makes me fly better . Call me over cautious, but until it's all sorted and everyone's on the same page I want to know where everybody is. Getting crowed in the cabin with all this paraphernalia, it's a good thing I fly alone most of the time. I should pretty well have it covered though.- 239 replies

Seth said exactly what I was thinking. Engine time would be the deal breaker for some at that price point.. The plane is very nice. Best of luck.
