1968 C Ranger at Camarillo airport, needs a home
TWinter replied to CMA-flyer's topic in Aircraft Classifieds
I was being sarcastic.. Most Mooney buyers are well educated on what the current market will bring and consider what a marketable price is. This one would be better placed in Barnstormers, Controller, etc only. Some of those prospects might overlook the market comparisons. By placing this ad on MS at a very aggressive price he is bound to get flack trying to ask a unrealistic price at us. If the seller does not want to hear our thoughts he should have re-evaluated and adjusted the price after the first few "constructive comments". Don't like the comments..well if you feel Bonanza owners are more polite just post it on Beech. I probably would not try Pilots of America..If you think this crowd is tough, POA would not be for him. If I put my plane on here and said I needed Ovation prices for a 73E...well, I'm sure I would get the same responses. Price the plane for the market and the audience. -

I think the MS input has been just "Constructive Criticism" to help facilitate the sale. There, now we are politically correct. -
All great points. Thanks much. I looked into the cowl enclosure..Yikes. I should have included that when I did my refi on her last year for my GTN750 and Stec. On the other hand you gotta pay to play $$. I really like the enclosures. More knots, better cooling and modern look. I've heard mixed reviews on the powerflow, but I'm sure there would be a few knots to gain.

Discovery Channel's "Dangerous Flights"

I say bring back real TV entertainment. Get rid of "Reality TV" junk. We remember primetime 9 pm evening TV as the days of Mannix, The FBI series (Sunday nights if I remember correctly), Cannon, Columbo, Gunsmoke the list is long but memorable..and maybe more realistic than today's "Reality TV". Showing my age I'm afraid. -
Any user comments on iFly 520 GPS
TWinter replied to WorldWiseTrade's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Prior to my Garmin 696 I used the IFly GPS units. I started the with the 700 several years ago then updated to the 720. Both are big brothers to 520. Very easy to use. Touch screen and very easy to navigate page to page. They now offer a I-Pad version. Their latest accomplishment is combined effort with their 720 unit and Skyguard. Adventure pilot has teamed with Skyguard and now the Skyguards ADSB Transeiver works very nicely with the IFly720. That means ADSB both in and out. Back to your question about the 520..Good products and good customer support ( I needed a replacement windshield mount and they sent me one no charge and did not want the defective one returned ). They also have a "Real View" option on the 520 and 720 that is pretty cool. Gives a real world view from above as to what the airport and surrounding area looks like on GPS picture. I've actually ordered the 720 and Skyguard. I am swapping my 696 and Zaon out for the IFly 720 with the Skyguard ADSB In/Out transceiver. Should be in this week. Pirep to follow. Say good bye to $66 a month XM weather and radio and the high Garmin subscription fee on the 696 databases. I will however always love my GTN 750 and use the 720 as my secondary GPS with ALL traffic and weather. I like keeping my 750 clutter free on the screen. Not everyone would do it this way, but works for me. This post really is in high praise for the company, Adventure Pilot. The 520 should be a great success as were the 700 and 720s. -
Still can't get my quotes to work right on the site..Anyway, Bob you will be in the air well before my trip and better than new. I'll explore the manual vs. electric. Thanks. PS. I'll be extra careful and on the watch for crappy taxiways will up there

Can't show a Mooney because we never have drama.. -
Thanks Bob, I'll check them out. I saw a complete set on either the forum or EBay several months ago. Price was pretty good, but I wasn't sure what direction I was going with the plane. I guess I should have jumped on them. Kind of off topic, but in a few months I'm heading up to New England for vacation. Trying to hit some of the coast. If I remember correctly you enjoy New England flying. Plan to fly from Tennessee (DYR) to Portsmouth, NH (PSM)- to Sanford, ME (SFM) and finally Bar Harbor, Maine (KBHB) then back to Portsmouth, NH for a week vacation and finally back home to TN. Should be gone about three weeks or so. Can't wait..I'll be going VFR, but with careful planning and no time restrictions all should be good.

I know this is a old topic, but just looking for the short version. I've been thinking about trading up in Mooney models, but unfortunately most that I have been looking the owners are pretty firm on pricing and that is fair enough. I also have so much tied up in 7741M that I am also pretty firm on what I think it's worth. So bottom line life is good keeping my bird, on the bright side I know my plane and know what's been done so far. With that in mind the mods will continue. Has anyone had speed brakes installed recently and if so who did the work and what was the approximate cost? I have a 73 E model and am thinking this would be my next upgrade. I know I've mentioned electric trim and received some feedback on that. That is also on my agenda. Any info on the cost or best source for the speed brake kit itself, amount of typical labor time involved and other things to look out for with the speed brakes. Thanks in advance.

Discovery Channel's "Dangerous Flights"
TWinter replied to BigTex's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I admit..I watch it and look forward to it. There is not much on TV aviation related and I can only watch my "Ice Pilots" DVDs so many times. Since it looks like Aerial Tweeto (sp) hasn't been "Flying Wild" in Alaska lately, or atleast I can't find it anymore. I think I've seen every episodes of Coast Guard so I'm left with little aviation related TV. Only thing to watch is the over dramatized "Dangerous Flights"..It's relaxing TV and funny at times. Makes you realize some of the junk out there and the demand for GA aircraft in other countries. I guess for now it will do until Aerial is over 18..Then we can only hope she is still flying and they start her own series . As far as Dangerous Flights, I did notice that some of the MS comments about not liking "Dangerous Flights" had some pretty good details on most all the series so far. I think there are some closet watchers. Dangerous Flights Anonymous sign-in: "Hello Everyone, mine name is Tom and I'm a Dangerous Flights watcher" -

Adding a 430? I'm all about budget, but maybe give it more thought. I think you will be wanting to upgrade before the install gets done. Just a thought.. Good luck on the paint.
