  1. "Moron" was unprofessional. "Neanderthal" fits, though, in two of the three (uncivliized, uncouth). "Catalyst" seems appropriate. adjective: Neanderthal 1. relating to Neanderthal man. (especially of a man) uncivilized, unintelligent, or uncouth. "your attitude to women is Neanderthalcat·a·lyst ˈkad(ə)ləst/ noun noun: catalyst; plural noun: catalysts a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change. a person or thing that precipitates an event. "the governor's speech acted as a catalyst for debate" synonyms: stimulus, stimulation, spark, sparkplug, spur, incitement, impetus"the governor's speech was a catalyst for debate"
  2. You're going to tell her to concentrate on things that concern her . . . and then you're going to make the posts you do . . that's one of the most hilarious things I've read recently.
  3. I think the point is that what people are paying according to what I'm reading varies widely. The post was started just to ask what's fair, not claiming that it should be done without fairly compensating whoever does it. Part of the problem could be that people get coupons in the mail to have the oil changed on their cars for $19.99 and somehow they compare that to an oil change on an airplane. It seems like an hour or two is considered fair, anything more than that excessive if all that was done was an oil change. Seems reasonable to me.
  4. There is a 231 on here (N231DH) in San Marcos where the owner wants a partner.

  6. For a couple years I had the chance to fly a Meridian in a partnership. Ever since then I give way to turboprops when I am in my Mooney. The fuel burn down low in a TP is incredibly high. During initial training at SimCom they made the point that the mission in a turboprop or jet is to get as high as you can as quick as you can and stay there as long as you can. I agree some of them have egos but all their flight planning when it comes to fuel goes out the window when a controller restricts their climb initially or brings them down too early.
  7. Wow thanks for the correction. Hard to believe that everyone would not have done the upgrade, with the low cost and the great benefits. In 96 I bought serial #209 from Mooney - it was the first Bravo. Even with the Bravo conversion you still had to manage temperatures - I can't imagine how tough it was at altitude before the conversion.
  8. Many of the TIO-540-AF1A engines that were used in the TLS needed a top end overhaul between 300-500 hours - that was the reason for the Bravo "wet-head" conversion. This one has 572 hours on it without a top end overhaul. I think the Bravo conversion will run quite a bit over $30000. For those who got the Bravo conversion when Lycoming came out with the Service Instruction in 1996 the price was "reasonable" - about $10000. That was the time to do it. In the 2008 price list below Lycoming wanted almost $25000 just for the 05K22169 kit plus all of the labor involved. Lycoming's prices would be considerably more expensive today, 7 yrs later. http://docslide.us/documents/2008-lycoming-service-parts-price- The wholesale Bluebook price on a base TLS with the Bravo conversion starts at $103000. That's on an airplane in annual. This one hasn't had an annual inspection since 2010 and doesn't have the Bravo conversion. It's hard to make the math work on it. 1993 Mooney TLS bluebook.pdf
  9. Probably Mooney's part number vs. Lord's who makes them

  15. Looks like it's in nice shape. The biggest drawback would be 572 hours in 22 years - 26 hours per year.
  16. Which one did you put in?
  17. Yet one more way to get oxygen to the bloodstream . . . I wonder if there is an STC for this http://www.o3center.org/Protocols/RectalInsufflation.html

  22. Any chance you would post the e-mail so I could show it to the Airport Manager at Castroville, TX (KCVB) to show them how they need to stay competitive with other area airports are charging? Thanks
  23. Probably not what you want to hear, but the Moritz gauges fail one by one until you finally just re-do the panel and put in a replacement (JPI EDM 930, MVP50).
  24. I have the GDL39 3D and use the Bluetooth to connect very well to my Aera 796, iPad & IPhone 6+ (both with Garmin Pilot). It works great. I always update the firmware and software on the devices to the latest and have no problems connecting. I have the cable that powers both the 796 and GDL39 and the battery backup for the GDL39. I like the idea of a back up Attitude Indicator and the Synthetic vision. This sits on my glareshield and has never overheated - I live in TX.
  25. Dave Gill at Crownair at Montgomery Field in San Diego (Mooney Service Center) did a great pre-buy on an airplane I bought. Couldn't be more pleased with what they did.
