  1. Yes, I would love one! Nice new cowlings with more visibility for preflight would be awesome
  2. Sweet. Panel looks amazing.
  3. my concerns in order: exit, entry (breaking seat back), seat belt. getting OFF the wing. I've flown with an almost 300 pound passenger and it was very uneventful. Good luck!
  4. 1 servo replaced within the first year
  5. Based on what I can pick out (g3x, g5, JPI, USBs, new panel cut, re-installing and making all the old stuff work...B. 50k...probably easily depending on what I'm missing/ edit...just saw the audio panel, garmin comm...yeah, I'd say 50k easily...plus whatever they uncover that can't be estimated
  6. no general aviation flights this year...definitely won't be going then https://www.wingsovernorthgeorgia.com/guest-information/faq-rules -K
  7. super happy for you. Congrats!
  8. ipad mini 5 with Guardian flush panel mount here...I love the look of it and the ipad mini 5 is fine with the exception of the display. Garmin pilot running on the ipad mini is noticeably dimmer than the other Garmin avionics in the panel. I'd estimate the others are 20% brighter. If the new Ipad mini is brighter, I'd upgrade but other than that the mini 5 does everything I ask of it. Now I haven't flown with the 760. It looks pretty good for sure. My ipad mini is in front of the copilot and is 90% there for the passenger to play with. No one has every complained about the brightness but it bugs me.
  9. I did. IIRC it was either another 1 or 1.5amu. It's been a while but I think he ported, polished, and matched the cylinders. If I'm totally honest here...I'm not even 100% certain what that was supposed to do, but it was another one of those "while we are in there" things. I can't say I can tell any difference with it as compared to prior to the overhaul. -K
  10. I think you are good with SG Aircraft version. I won't let regular SG anywhere near the plane though. I'm like Hank though I use Wash Wax all red and blue for everything.
  11. Love the 170s as well...If I could swing another it would be a 170. Good luck on your decision and look forward to following. -K
  12. this should make someone really happy. great price too. we're very happy with ours.
  13. wow...pretty much the least informative write up I've seen lately. Sometimes that's not a bad thing though. -K
  14. Just catching up...I have the G3X with EIS and have been very happy. I was going to suggest doing a 345R for ADSB tied in with your G3x and 750. I love having it tied in and not taking up any panel space. The multitude of functions of the G3x take a while to learn but it still amazes me. I think you'll be very happy. -K
  15. Oh that's awesome. Would love to have another Mooney flyer down here! Let me know when you are moving on down! When the CGR was working I definitely liked it. Just couldn't get over the random reboots and what not.
  16. If you haven't pulled the trigger already...I'd think really hard about the CGR...I had the dual screen (P&C). While I really liked the units my experience was very frustrating. I was down for more than a month as the units had to be shipped back to EI and be updated (and didn't fix my problem btw), they had a huge batch of bad probes and unfortunately I helped identify the problem...Lastly, I was still getting random reboots during flight. EI was always very nice and tried hard to help me, but nonetheless, I never had a satisfactory solution. I know 3 other planes that had fairly similar experiences, though I'm sure there are plenty of stories of happy customers. I really liked them and wish they would have worked.. Personally I will never have EI again. It will be JPI or garmin EIS. -K
  17. Big G getting it done...Kevin hope you are thrilled with yours! Look forward to a pirep!
  18. Pretty low time...around 400 hours or so...but that was spread across almost 20 years.
  19. well I did my private in the 80s when I was a kid so the only option was renting...started in a 150 and ended in a warrior for the last little bit.
  20. what are those? lol I'm totally kidding...even though I haven't shot but two real world ILS's in 11 years. (I have pretty high personal minimums and don't go out looking for bad weather on purpose and I fly out of many smaller airports w/o ILS anyway)
  21. Very happy G3x/EIS/750/gfc500 customer here. I also went with the remote transponder and audio panel. I'll stay out of the g500txi vs g3x debate but I will strongly vote for the 750 over the 650. I like having another large screen and I use it for different things at different phases of the flight. In particular I like being able to have a larger view of the flight plan when shooting approaches (upcoming way points, step downs, etc). After flying with a 696 I didnt' want anything on my yoke anymore and I don't miss it one bit. I also have an iPad mini panel mounted in front of the copilot. I let my passengers "play" with that all they want. It's been a huge hit and is also a tertiary backup if everything else blows up. At the $$$ you are talking, I'd throw the 750 into the "while we are at it" category and get the larger screen...iirc it was ~$5k. My vote...large display G3x or 500txi and larger GTN...oh yeah and the GFC500 is the most amazing thing to me (but I was coming from a Century IIB with STEC30 alt hold...kind of clunky). Keep us posted on what you do. -K
  22. I did my IR training and test in my J. I love that I didn't do it in another plane, especially a rental. 11 years later I'd do the exact same thing. Good luck!
  23. Alex, congrats on the decision. We look forward to hearing about your upgrades...the GFC500 is one of the favorite upgrades I've done. I'm betting you will be thrilled as well. Price seems pretty reasonable to me. -K
  24. Have the G3x/G5/GFC500...talked to my avionics guy...said he isn't doing many GI275s and most are still going with the G5...I won't have to make the decision, but if it were square instead of round and had been available, I would have probably popped for it...wtheck...
  25. +1 for the B-Kool https://www.b-kool.net/ I get the ice from an ice machine at the airport that produces way too much ice already. It's usually good for at least an hour. We taxi with our door shut even on the hottest GA days. And it comes out for the months we don't need it or if we need the space. I'd happily buy a 20 pound bag or make my own large cubes like Skates writes about to get the comfort provided. I did get the remote control and I'm super happy.
