  1. 11th or 18th is fine with me
  2. I’m in! Just south of Little Rock. 1963 C Model
  3. Andrew, Bring your wife out and let her sit in my airplane. Pictures don’t always show things the way they really are. Dinner talking with my wife might help as well!
  4. Does that have the same 50Amp Generator as the C mode? If so, I am interested.
  5. The pictures I attached were taken during the Mooney Homecoming tour when the factory was closed.
  6. Try Dawson's Aircraft Salvage in Clinton Arkansas. They had a couple of Mooney's they were parting out.
  7. Stephen, PM me. I may be able to direct you to a reputable old school mechanic that won't try to bankrupt you. He grew up in the business and has done several things for my Mooney and is located in Central Arkansas. I had a leaky exhaust valve this year (plane currently in annual) and instead of suggesting to replace the cylinder he actually lapped and reseated both the intake and exhaust valves for a small fraction of replacing the cylinder. Compression went from 30 cold to 75 cold. Also, did you check Dawson's Aircraft Salvage in Clinton? Sometimes they have non-prop strike Mooney engines available.
  8. Has anyone flown missions for AERObridge? Last week I went to AERObridge.org and signed up. They sent an email yesterday looking for pilots/aircraft to start shuttling disaster supplies to southern Florida (X51h from OCF and LAL. They are also shuttling supplies from X51 to a couple of the keys. I have half a mind to jump in the ole Mooney and do some flying this weekend, if only I wasn't so far away. I didn't know if any Mooneyspacers were signed up to fly any of these missions.
  9. Call Cody Stallings. He is a fellow Mooneyspacer. He did my IRAN this spring. he is a straight shooter.
  10. Living in Arkansas, I have a lot of friends that fly into Byrd's... none in a Mooney. One friend has taken his Bonanza in there, another took his Seabee, and another took him and his wife in their J-3 cub (90 HP). They all said the same. The strip is a little bouncy but not bad. Just don't Plan on using the 600 feet as it is really rough. The J3 was on a very warm day and he mentioned he didn't know if they were going to clear the trees as they were close to gross. I would go in as light as possible. Fuel after leaving as there are a couple of fields with fuel within 10-15 minute flight.
  11. I use an Ozark Trails battery operated camping fan. When at Oshkosh it leaves the plane and resides in the tent. Usually turn it off at 3,000'.
  12. I have a 63 C model and had a similar situation that kept getting worse. We OH'd mags, new plugs/wires, rebuilt carb, checked timing, etc. And still had the intermittent problem. We then started troubleshooting the fuel lines. We finally found the culprit when we pushed air through the fuel lines. After the fuel line leaves the gascalator the line has a short 4-6 inch run inside the cockpit on the left front of the nosegear doghouse. The line had abrasion tape where it went through a circular hole. After removing the tape we discovered it had been rubbing enough on the upper part of the line that there was a crack allowing air in the line. You couldn't see anything with the black tape on it. After replacing that section I have flown 800 hours without any issues. This may not be your issue but it is very cheap to do a visual inspection before spending a lot of money like I did trying to track it down.
  13. Been too busy painting to get on Mooneyspace!!
  14. I work at an airport and we use old roof shingles. A lot less work than taping and masking.
  15. Rochelle, IL (RPJ) has a great restaurant on field. We stop there every year on our way to Oshkosh. If you are lucky the skydivers will be active. Nothing like eating great food and watching skydivers. This is not your typical airport restaurant. My wife had Grilled Mahi Mahi tacos and loved them so much we had to stop on our way home from Oshkosh for a second taste.
  16. Wrenches, sockets, multi head screwdriver, safety wire, duct tape, small variety of screws, extra fuel cap and most important...a starter.
  17. You didn't hear it from me but I was once told it is the same one used on the early 60s John Deere tractors.
  18. If you recall one of my posts last year, Shuster is bad news for GA as he is in bed with the airlines. Since he is sleeping with the top lobbyist for the airline industry, and has taken millions of their dollars, he shouldn't even be allowed near any transportation bill.
  19. Does anyone know the specifics behind the space-based eLORAN the FAA is looking at?
  20. Friday- Flew from Arkansas to Charleston. Had a 5:45 am CDT departure and climbed to my cruising altitude of 13,000 between layers. Got to try out my new Oxygen system I bought at Oshkosh this year. Landed at Gadsen Alabama for fuel before going through ATL Center airspace as I have had them vector me all over in the past. Had full service fueling done while I was standing there. Took 24.6 gallons but the line guy tried to charge me for 26.7 gallons. He chuckled that he must be dyslexic (he didn't even have the right numbers to support dyslexia). This is why I always witness the fueling process after I was overcharged in Youngstown Ohio last year (equated to a 13.5 GPH fuel burn in a C model!) Departed Gadsen and shortly after handoff to ATL Center...the re routing game started. Look at my Flightaware to see the path they took me on. Made it into Charleston without any issues and was surprised at the lack of traffic. I was cleared to land as #1. After completing my business, I flew to Morehead City, NC to spend the night with friends. Arrived MRH shortly after 5:00 pm EDT. Left MRH Saturday morning, refueled (self fueling) at GAD and arrived back home in time to pull my cowling and do an oil change. I have the best wife as she met me at the airport with dinner in hand that enabled me to tackle the oil change. Needless to say I was a little tired on Sunday.
  21. Sherwin-Williams will do the same but you have to find which store does auto paint.
  22. $177.00 for the pair. I think they had them in stock for a while.
  23. I had the same problem a couple of years ago. I found mine at Chandler aviation, 4807329118.
  24. Yesterday we flew to Memphis to take my grandson to the zoo. Instead of the 2 1/2 hour drive it took 50 minutes. We used Uber instead of taxis to get around and found out it was much cheaper than taxis. After the zoo we went to Central for some fantastic BBQ and then to the new Bass Pro in the Pyramid. We took off just before dark and enjoyed a nice sunset. This morning, I left at 7:00 am to take my grandson back home. Flew to Branson, MO (Downtown airport) and was sitting in the Farmhouse Restaurant in downtown Branson for breakfast at 8:30 am (have a vehicle parked at PLK). Did a little shopping, left Branson at 10:20 arrived SUZ at 11:15 and was back in my house before noon (after picking up lunch for my wife). One way driving trip takes 3 1/2 hours.
