  1. It's been years since I stayed there over night or even landed there. I can't remember if they had a tie down fee or not. It was one night and I bought fuel so. Going there for Cajun Mardi Gras?
  2. Santa has a tail dragging Mooney.
  3. It is a steel weight inside of a lead casting. A magnet should do the trick, or depending on the paint you could possibly see the steel insert.
  4. Haven't actually used the one you asked about but I do have one. I like these better but they are more $$.
  5. If anyone is in real need for the counter weights. I have a set of elevators and rudder from a 65 E model with solid weights. PM with an offer
  6. No it does not need to be the only file on the jump drive. I have not yet run across this issue. Did you try a second time after powering down the 540? Usually after it queries the drive it brings up a screen then you select the database to update and press proceed. Sometimes it takes a minute to figure out how to tell it to proceed but far easier than the KLN94. I guess the file on the drive could be corrupt. Oh as far as the latest software upstate from Avidyne for the 540 wait a while if you haven't done it. Somehow they forgot to put in the feature that remembers the last com frequency used. The standby frequency stays on the last frequency, but not the active one.
  7. No by landing there, he is just stating the he is flying a Robinson 22.
  8. We have had some here boast bout their long range, long duration flights. Well what was your shortest flight? Flying home from KORL yesterday we encountered IFR conditions in New Orleans, 6sm, 008 OVC, and could not make it another 3 miles to LS40. Well it was all that IFR, special VFR FAA stuff. I could see LS40. I had to land at MSY. So today when the VFR window opened up I moved the plane from MSY to LS4 all of 2 minutes on Flight aware. How do you log 2 minutes??
  9. look up mass loaded vinyl sound proofing. I used a reinforced MLV around my hangar door and works pretty well. You can get 10 to 15 foot lengths that is 3' to 4' wide for around $150+/- Cut a long strip and screw it to the front and back of the door and let it puff out about 1" and this should seal the door pretty well even better if you put on on each door.
  10. talking about oil cooler lines, fuel lines? try precision hose technology. You will need to give them size, type of hose, length and fittings https://www.aircrafthose.com/
  11. Hopefully they can get them down safely.
  12. agreed but don't they have screws holding the windshield and windows in?
  13. If you need to build time and you are the safety pilot log the time. If you have plenty of time log if you want or don't log it. Either way it doesn't make much of a difference .
  14. y'all STC folks don't go gett'n you panties in a wad
  15. Besides this is a faring so the owner can repair it under preventive maintenance.
  16. WOT, 2550RPM, LOP but I do have fuel injection so lean as much as you can.
  17. I know some who will only use Shell 100. I have used Phillips almost exclusively, 20-50 and 100 usually whatever is cheaper, since becoming a plane owner. Just my opinion but I feel any motor oil would work fine in our engines. Yes there are certain specs for the oil. I would love to have the resources to run a test with multiple different oils just to see what would happen.
  18. generally if you can make it in 3 to 4 hours with the Mooney you can beat the airlines or be awfully close. Non stop airline flights are generally hard to be time wise. This is being close to a medium to large international airport. If you are flying out of a regional airport beating the airlines is easier.
  19. thin film of adhesive silicone
  20. quart of mineral spirits and a rag, works wonders
  21. Contact Seth at PAP he might be able to help you. https://pap2fly.com/
  22. I'm still confused why we are using ICAO form domestic flights?
  23. See the 2x8 blocks, all screwed together, under the wheel along with a chock block on each end. That way I can have the plane jacked up without being on jacks the whole time when working under the plane.
  24. I have one and used it for annual this year. Very nice especially when removing inspection covers out by the wing tips. I have spacer blocks I put the wheels on to give ma an additional 4.5" clearance under the belly and it works fine.
