  8. Flight from Houston to Gulf Shores this weekend - fantastic blue skies, three and a half out and three hours back. If you get an opportunity to land at KJKA stop in at Ferguson Air Services - great people - friendly service and the cookies are good too!!!

  10. Also check the scat tubing going into the heat box - if there is anything coming off of the muffler you will be able to see grayish soot on the inside.
  11. Get the basic ram mount plus an extra short arm and double ball connector - it gives a lot more flexibility in positioning
  12. I just picked up my annual pack of stress test, blood work and doctors appraisal paperwork to send to Oklahoma for my off year class three authorization to fly. I've already written my reps. Think I'll send them another round

Not specific to a Mooney - but coming home from Wisconsin to Texas on the last part of the flight daytime had turned to dusk and then to night both I and the co pilot were night current so no issues there. Coming into the home stretch I kept looking for the field couldn't see it for the life of me three miles out. That's when my buddy looks over at me and mentions that I should probably switch out my sunglasses...
  14. I polished mine and was going to clear coat afterwards - never got around to the clear coat, but no matter - 5 minutes of caressing my baby's nose once in a while is ok by me.
  15. I've personally done 15 gusting 22 (KTS) crosswind - actually practiced in it. Not something that I'd subject my family to.

  20. Theft in the Houston area. Just trying to spread some info. Wanted: Information or return of Stolen avionics out of a training aircraft last night 2/12/2014, at Weiser Airpark, Houston Texas. Be on the lookout for resale or installation requests of Garmin 430, G327, G340, and/or Apollo sl40. $2000 CASH no questions asked reward for the return of these avionics or the prosecution of the S.O.B. who did this. Garmin will not repair, service, or maintain stolen equipment, and these serial numbers have been reported to Garmin. Let's use the aviation community to catch this person, he has to be local, as he knew what he was doing. We are just regular people trying to survive in the aviation community. We also found out the thief smashed another C172's window. Breaking windows of airplanes and then stealing all the avionics. 2 different Garmin 430's stolen from Aviation supporters. One complete stack: audio panel, both radios, transponder. He has to either sell them or use them somewhere in the future.
