  2. Jim where in Texas ?
  3. You're in bad need of some noise cancelling head sets if you can hear that in flight...
  4. 61668-4 TE Connectivity AMP Connectors TERM EDGE BIF LF 18-24AWG CRIMP Unit Price 0.76000 Looks like digi key has a replacement

  6. Well you could also use a correctly sized deep socket I guess - I hadn't gotten my honorary membership to the cbc when I put it in the shopping cart - guess I was still mesmerized by being a new plane owner....... my how things change !
  7. OK - so today saw 153 TAS - 4500 feet 26 - 2400 @ 11 gph, barometer 30.16 temp 25 top vent door open cowl flaps trailing. Lasar windshield - cowling enclosure haven't washed and waxed for some time I gotta believe that would be worth a couple kts......
  8. Here is what I have on my panel - don't forget the retainer (looks like a split washer) and the handy tool to push the retainer in place http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/no82retainer-tool-a.php
  9. I usually see 150 kts (170ish mph) but I plan 140
  10. That gave me the shudders - great persistence! I've found that a super bright led flashlight helps a lot when poking around under the cowling - especially when in a hangar.
  11. And definitely get the stainless!! I bought all the stuff individually for the tail cone and the cowling.
  12. A simple device - yes Damn near impossible to get to for cable replacement - absolutely Plan on the better part of a day if the cable is broken if not lube generously
  13. 67 F - IO360A1A I normally start with the mixture all the way out. Throttle cracked, turn on the pump to watch the pressure increase, put the mixture in, count to four, back off the mixture complete pre start checks and hit the ignition. It normally fires in two blades, then I advance the mixture to full I've not been able to find specs for the pump Does anyone have a link? I've been seeing @ 22 with the mixture out, engine not running. Running I'm in the green arc with the engine fuel pump.
  14. What max pressure (normal and healthy ) do you see with the electric pump on and mixture knob all the way out? ( pre start) What would the minimum pressure be to indicate an issue?
  15. Well happy to say that the treadmill went good - had a pretty tech Just to make sure I didn't under-do it I went for 12 minutes and 168 bpm... Paper work is in the mail.

  18. After going through the annual work up for my special issuance with good results in March I received a note from the FAA - my cardiologist ran me for the obligatory 9 minutes but I failed to hit the hearbeat per minute target..... So back I go - and another 180 dollars. Sure hope the nurse is cute, that may help with the heartbeat Sure can't wait for the medical reform.
  19. I was.... Gusty day.
  20. Don't forget to google your tail number a couple months after you've been there- you may just see a photo of your arrival!
  21. I would suggest watching some of the many YouTube videos showing Oshkosh arrivals, it will give you a good idea of the traffic flow, I've been four times and honestly the worst part of the flight in is the convergence at Ripon. It also gives you a good idea of the radio calls
  22. Just donated 10 - with an additional 10 for make up!
  23. sooo many jokes.... I just can't do it But seriously - I had tennis elbow for about half a year last year - didn't have any issues.
  24. What airport is that
  25. A while back I was flying from Dallas back to Houston, I happened to look at my egt gauge only to find out one was indicating stone cold - first thing I thought was I had lost a cylinder - I was sure of it - heck I even thought the engine was missing and I had a vibration... after dialing up the closest on my 430 figuring out how far I could glide when the engine shot craps and picking a good landing spot in case I couldn't glide to the nearest - I reflected a bit and cross checked a few things - my airspeed hadn't dropped, in reality the vibration was the same ole familiar drone, broke the seal on my headset to listen to the engine - all normal - telling me I had fallen pray to the technology trap!! 75 dollars later and a new probe in place all was back to normal..... But it sure was a good what if exercise, though somewhat unnerving.
