  1. Quote: M204ever I have an additional M20C fuselage in my garage an tried to get access to the vent flap lever linkage with the ceiling covers completely removed. No way... Be happy if it is connected there and if you only have to replace or lubricate the teethed drive in the overhead panel. I can make photos if needed.
  2. Quote: danb35 The info I have on them is from here: http://www.boyercreative.com/mooneypics/ShoulderLites/ Did anyone on the board try this? I have to buy a replacement Lens for 35 but if this works for 50 I'd rather go that route.
  3. Well I'll definately be looking into that too!
  4. Nice thing about foreflight - if you buy it for the Ipad it covers the install on the iphone as well. now you have a backup to the backup!!
  5. So now that I've had the plane for a couple months I want to work on one of those pesky issues - has anyone replaced or repaired the control that opens the vent scoop on top of the fuselage? As it stands now I have to decide prior to take off if I want the scoop open or closed or somewhere in between. I believe that the teeth on the control are stripped - I had the overhead console down at one time for another issue and took a quick look but didn't delve into it as it was just prior to Oshkosh. It almost looks inaccessable - you know - start with the part and build the plane around it.....
  6. Oh - ditto on foreflight - works fantastic for preflight - my significant likes to track our path on the way as well - I've been to 9,500 and not lost the track - speed and altitude is relatively close as well.
  7. I bought a RAM yoke mount off of ebay I haven't put it in the plane yet, but it works great on the kitchen stools I looked for the seller that I bought mine from - his wasn't there but another seller has a bunch for a buy it now in the 60 dollar range. I can say that the mount is sturdy and has a solid attachment both on the yoke and the IPad itself... temp link for now http://cgi.ebay.com/Aircraft-Golf-Cart-Yoke-Mount-Apple-iPad-RAM-/360309550161?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e41f6c51
  8. Quote: flight2000 Dave, I have some on my website that might help give you an idea. There are a ton of wires and vacuum tubes in there. The avionics shop took the pics and sent inprogress photos about every other week. http://www.67m20e.com/panel_overhaul.htm Brian
  9. I and Mine just popped down for a quick weekend. The Calamari at Virginias on the Bay was super... in any event pay the 25 cents for the shuttle for the ride into town - we rented a golf cart and rode all over town as well as on the beach. http://www.virginiasportaransas.com/
  10. sorry - I guess bitmaps don't play nice with the posts
  11. Quote: DaV8or So it looks like my EDM 700 won't be able to fit on the far left side. In addition, I discovered just how crappy the factory amp meter is by using my own clamp on amp meter and checking loads. Turns out, the factory gauge won't really do any thing unless there is a big load on it. This got me wondering about the health of the other five gauges in the cluster and how useful they are. I have also decided that I want to get a digital amp/volt meter. This all leads to new options for my panel and of course none of them are cheaper. So, from cheapest to most expensive:
  12. Quote: DaV8or After you posted this, I realized that I had seen your plane at Oshkosh and even took a picture of you taxiing it in. However, I just spend about an hour pouring over hard drives and can't find it anywhere. I am baffled because I took two or three pictures of Mooneys that I could actually find there. How was flying in?
  13. YEP THAT WAS OSHKOSH
  14. Well then.....
  15. Quote: danb35 When I did mine on the pilot's side, my mechanic and I agreed that replacing that panel was a minor alteration, and would only need a logbook entry as documentation. The panel itself was an owner-produced part--I had it CNC cut from a CAD file I provided.
  16. Just to update... I had the plane checked out - it had a weep on the left wing tank as well as some other age related things that I thought needed attention (mostly interior related - the defroster tubes were circa 67 etc..) The sequence of events - Purchase my new (to me) Mooney Pull the interior and steam clean - for those of you contemplating an interior change - youd be amazed how things brighten up with a bit of elbow grease. Got the left tank resealed. Pull the loran and put in a used (free) king 90b vfr only for now. Get my PPL in a 172 Plan and fly my first cross country from Texas to Oshkosh (my instructor wanted to go - and I figured that would knock out the dual I needed for insurance) Spend a lot of time looking at the sky waiting for the next majic carpet ride. Going to start my IFR training soon !!! I can say that all the hesitations about getting into a Mooney are pretty much bunk - the difference of my F compared to the cessnas and pipers I've flown is huge - it is such a stable plane, and lands like a dream . 110 hours to date with 30 in my baby...
  17. I think I already know the answer - but I've always had this impulse purchase thing that has bit me in the past. I'm close to getting my private ticket, and am all jazzed about owning a plane, done all the research on insurance, hanger, ongoing maint etc. I want to purchase something that will fill my current capabilities and satisfy my future dreams (read speed and cross country) so I've decided on the Mooney over an Arrow. Question is - is a '67 M20F without gps 2100 tttaf and 400 tsmoh worth 34K 8 on paint and 3 on interior?
