  1. Engine monitors are getting a step in modernization... -a-
  2. Norbert, That is not original 1963? That appears to be an upgraded six-pack on the left and a complete change on the right. Including the replacement instruments. Definitely consider the Hendricks panel. It'll finish what it looks like someone started already. Just sayin'... -a-
  3. The Stefanovm site includes humidity in the calculation. Not as portable as an i version. WingX also helps with their version. I'll check out AutoDens. East coast departures are not that critical, at 125' msl and 3,000' long runway...until it is hot again and fully loaded. Thanks, -a-
  4. $5 can get you a WnB app for your idevice. This almost completes my migration from laptop to iPad... There may be a way to share the details of settings if anyone is interested in my Ovation details... Best regards, -a-
  5. Flying out is a good idea. Insurance wants to cover it. It's a opportunity to visit a different city. -a-
  6. Search for Carson's speed. Nice place to fly for efficiency. Are you building time? Best regards, -a-
  7. Those numbers make an M20C sound delicious... -a-
  8. Why is it unable to get the HP calculation correct? What does it need to have, rpm, mp, oat, ff, know that it's ROP or lop? I am considering this purchase, but the rumor of inaccuracy is strong, can it be overcome? Flat out wrong, is pretty strong. Either way the full data collection is what is important to me. Doing the HP lookup is a pain since I'm doing the calc vs. the machine. I am following the HP calc <65% for Lop... Since most of my travels are above 10k' it really doesn't effect me much. Who wants flat out wrong data in the mix??? Best regards, -a-
  9. Jimmy, Your thoughts? Why the discrepancy that Byron pointed out occurs? Byron, you can send a message direct to Jimmy Garrison if you want to. He always has a presence here. Jimmy makes the best calculator for valueing Mooneys, but apparently it takes some expertise in how to best use /massage it. My take on it is, it is an estimate builder. If it were more exact, it would have to give you contact info for a potential buyer with financing in place. Best regards, -a-
  10. JetSet, I am not familiar with the issue there. But I do know the manager of TopProp at Harzell is Mike Trudeau, mtrudeau@ hartzellprop.com. He's a good guy working for a solid company, you might want to contact him. Best regards, -a-
  11. Want to try go with multiple purchase discount? I have been getting a quote organized with JPI. They have a discount, and a trade in for the 700. I would like all the data including the rpm, OAT, MP all easily accessible to memory stick... -a-
  12. Saving money was definitely not the driving force. Especially if you break something that a mechanic wouldn't... Also a good way to start planning some changes for next year... -a-
  13. Owner assist will make you one with your machine. You get to know the people you are working with. You will learn how mechanics really work. It's all good if you have the time. You'll know every wart on your machine As far as MSCs go... I got my last two annuals there, but did not attend in person. Maybe next time. -a-
  14. My m20C stuck a valve, then "cleared" itself. Look for bent valve stem while taking the offending cylinder apart. Bent valves don't work very well. It might make sense to just replace the valve on the offending cylinder... Best regards, -a-
  15. 3 new scat hoses one to each seat. Front passenger gets the air box in front of them. Check the movement of the air valves controlling the air flow. Two on the firewall, engine side and one air box on the passenger side. Close the air entering the cabin, roof vents, door seals, instrument panel cooling. Then a big blanket that captures the hot air from the front air box all the way back to the back seats. If you close all vents, than consider having a CO gauge or some device to keep from accidentally creating a new problem. Good luck. Best regards, -a-
  16. Craig, I "liked" your post... Then I got this error message... When I pushed the button a second time.... It must have not remembered that I pushed the like button. Now the button indicates that I like it. An error occurred There was a problem storing your reputation vote. -a-
  17. What is the cost of upgrading your KLN94 to an IFR installation. Check eBay since the BK equipment is being replaced by Garmin upgrades. The KLN 94 is nice and upgradable... Best regards, -a-
  18. The $500 STC fee is above and beyond the cost of the item itself. $3 app $2 apple wow factor $500 STC I've recently learned about STCs -a-
  19. Jerry, Consider having your mechanic wash everything between the carb and intake valves. There is a fare amount of blue goo that builds up in there. The intake tubes of my 65C had so much, I was surprised. It is a good opportunity to change seals on the valve covers, intake tubes, and tighten oil return lines from the valves. After my intakes were cleaned, the idle was noticebly smoother. 16 years without a cleaning could be a good time to replace seals anyway. They may be made with newer materials now than what were used back then? Best regards, -a-
  20. Prior to Js, most speed information was transmitted in mph. It sounds faster... The IFR world seems to have restandardized on KIAS. Approach plates are all in knots If you fly in the system, knots is probably better. If you fly VFR it won't matter. Either way, stick with one system. Otherwise landing long or short becomes an inherent distraction. Consider this as an amateur opinion... Best regards, -a-
  21. Expect large pieces of ice/hail... Bring your extra thick windshield. -a-
  22. So, what is supposed to retain the oil nozzle in it's place? Apparently the ball and spring maintain pressure on the nozzle, what keeps it in it's place? -a-
  23. Hey Shery, Great to see you at MooneySpace! -a-
  24. What are you doing to prepare for Sandy? If you haven't seen the track....... She is coming up the East coast and is scheduled to visit NJ after the weekend. 100mph winds and 10" of rain are being predicted. My plane is indoors for maintenance. Best regards, -a-
