  1. Welcome to the Forum.
  2. Cannot help you, but welcome to the forum. Well, posting on the forum :-)
  3. Just interested
  4. An AT&T fiber optic line was severed. It affected mobile and land lines. Sprint mobile was not affected. DF
  5. Congratulations. Hope you find a good buyer. Thank you as a fan of Mooney for resurrecting a bird that could have ended in the salvage yard. Have you weighed it yet? Did you get an increase or decrease in UL? Did your CG move?
  6. I have talked to three different Mooney shirts, randomly met in town between Dec. and now, and asked each as to when the "press release" will happen. One immediately said "January." That happened before Christmas. One other was right after new years. She was more coy, but after a little talking, she let off with "first of the year". The last one, yesterday, was also coy, but he smiled and said "soon." I will take it all with a grain of salt and will believe it when I see it. Don't hammer me please. Just passing along what I have heard. I do know, if I win tomorrow, I'm going to buy the first five off the assembly line, donate four to different aviation colleges, and fly the heck out of the other.
  7. Why can you resurrect in a half hour a Briggs & Stratton engine that sat dormant for 30 years? Why do 70s era motorcycles stay dead unless meticulously rebuilt? How can they find a 60's Chevy in a barn, and drive them away? How can........ I do not believe there will be one particular answer. Yes oil blockage, yes carbon, yes coking, yes metallurgy, yes engineering architecture, yes aliens exist, no aliens don't exist. I tend to feel owner operation has as much to do with it as anything. I feel temp control is a giant factor. You overheat anything enough times, something, everything will be affected. I re-ringed my two stroke machines after three heat cycles sometimes because the performance was degragaded enought to warrant it. I know how hot they got and could tell I needed rings. As for rust on cams and lifter because of non use? I don't know? Why is it that lawn mower engines can be started after 30 years of dormancy?
  8. Welcome to the Forums
  9. congratulations and good luck. DF
  10. Did you get a "feel" for the play on the new turbo? I make the assumption you have enough tactile feel with the magnet to know if you have excess play in the turbo. What is too much play? Is there a spec for "play" in the impeller? Is it more of a common sense kind of thing?
  11. I missed your post. Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year.
  12. Hell. What does an AP know anyhow?
  13. Welcome to the Forum. David
  14. Anybody ever land, or take off in a cave? No, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night
  15. What do you all think of the "no fuel odor" noticed? Maybe the engine hiccupped from low fuel? The report doesn't mention any fire or burning. That crossed my mind as well as Yetti's DF
  16. I assume that the condensed water will be collected, and then discarded after each flight? I have not read about this install in Cirrus, or others. time to do some research. DF
  17. Hope everyone has many happy and safe flying hours this year. Wishing all of GA a very Happy New Year. David
  18. The title says it all. I have to admit this is the first time I read a full NTSB report and not just the cliff note version you see on WEB sites. http://www.ntsb.gov/_layouts/ntsb.aviation/brief2.aspx?ev_id=20120825X85310&ntsbno=CEN12FA570&akey=1 I guess I am mad and sad. Why the hell do you disconnect a stall horn? He was not feeling well the night before the flight. He ate with us at the steak house that evening and I could tell he was feeling not so well, and I totally believe they found Benadryl in his system. Enough to impair him, who knows? I know how he preached airspeed on final. How the hell did that happen? I don't know what a Grumman Tiger flies like but when you are that low, you can't stall worthy slow in any airplane. Anyway. df
  19. Patience is the word of the day and don't be discouraged. Good luck. PM Lancecasper on this board. He may have Jimmy's direct line. DF
  20. I bet they are out on Christmas and New Years holiday. Seems odd that anyone in sales has their phone off to potential buyers. Lance, do you have Jimmy's direct line? DF
  21. The door to door time difference between the two machines Would be negligible. Both haul ass. There is a nice looking 262 listed on this forum. a 252 can be upgraded to an Encoure for many AMU's, a 231 can not (as taught to me by KSMooniac). The 252 has the least useful load in the fleet. They both have the auto waste gates and MB engines believe. If you really want the "better" performance and UL, step up to the Encore if budget allows. DF
  22. Still in the market?
  23. What Steve is describing above, is what is lacking in todays newish mechanics and their thoughts. Remove and replace, is the norm today, other than diagnose, and repair.
  24. "O" "O2" "O3"
  25. What was the final word on the TKS? Were the membranes dried out to the point they wouldn't flow? df
